Law School Admissions / Re: Why asking "Have u applied a prior year"
« on: March 27, 2009, 05:31:59 PM »
The dean of admissions at UIUC is posting/answering questions on TLS.  He was asked about previous applications and said he didn't look at the old one; however, that's obviously not necessarily representative.  I assume that if an adcomm looked at a previous application they would want to make sure it wasn't simply a "resend" with no new info (ie: LSAT score) or new essays...

I like this idea for a thread (and hope to be able to add to it :P), especially because this seems like an odd cycle in general...

That is odd.  Something smells of the downstate NY, LI, NJ area...

I don't know the point of origination for "pants," but I liked it immediately upon reading it... and I'm from Long Island.  You've got a knack, Como.

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: 2009 crazy admissions cycle

It certainly could be more competitive, or it could be that the number of applicants is down, but the the number of applications is up - less people applying to more schools.  More people being waitlisted could be a result of yield protection.  But who knows?  It's all speculation.

What are your numbers if you don't mind sharing?

Incoming 1Ls / Re: Anyone Shomer Shabbos while in law school?
« on: January 30, 2009, 10:41:50 AM »
I can't answer your question from personal experience; however, I would imagine that keeping shabbos would be helpful.  I would suggest you go to the nearest law school campus and look for someone wearing a kipah and ask them (if no one with personal experience responds).

...and since today is Friday, Shabbat Shalom!

Hey, Tim Mitchell - I haven't been on here much so I may have missed it, but is that your girlfriend/maybe fiance depending on your LSAT score in your avatar?
