I've always been told you should not spend more than 24 total hours of study time preparing (over the 2 to 3 days before the exam).

Eight hours to classes or lectures as well as reviewing your notes, outlines or flash cards. The remaining Sixteen hours should be used to focus on sample Question attempts and reviews. (last 4 hours for practicing under timed conditions)

Keep it simple.

My mentor always tell me, do what you enjoy, surround yourself with inspirational people..

JacyS5 is right, they are not there to fail you.. explain your situation and don't be afraid to ask for help/guidance.

I went a similar route that BudLaw did, picked up a MPRE book and lecture from Came with a study outline and practice questions. Listened to the audio lecture on my IPod during commutes.. good stuff, easy peasy. I think it was like $25 bucks.
