Job Search / Re: Judicial Internship Question
« on: February 01, 2008, 03:21:34 PM »
Pretty sure they keep track of applications - probably depends on the judge.

To not hear ANYthing in 3 weeks is strange.  I'd think lots of them would at least send "we're not hiring" or "already got one" letters.

My grades were already good without the missing class but that one grade pushed my GPA to excellent.

I applied to federal judges in NY. I got one response back via email (already hired) so I know the letters reached the destination.

I know it is intense competition for the NYC districts but my application can't be that bad...

Do judges usually email or call? I would follow up but the only option is to send another round of letters (no email or number to call).

Job Search / Judicial Internship Question

I sent quite a few letters out for summer judicial internships. I have not heard anything back in 3 weeks. Along with my cover letter and resume, I submitted a grade report that was incomplete and was missing a class. My grades are now all posted and I did very well.

Should I send another letter (of continued interest) along with my transcript? I am not sure if they even have my resume on file. Do Judges' and their staff keep track of job applications with folders and whatnot?

3.5ish undergrad, 163 lsat.

what are my chances for GULC EA?  and if i can keep this up, CLS, NYU, or Penn?

Whoa....we have the same stats!!! I currently also have a 3.8X from a similarly ranked school and a 3.5X UGPA and a 163 on my my LSAT.

I'm also considering transferring to GULC, NYU/CLS

Job Search / Re: Firms' Responses

Much appreciated. I decided it is not worth applying to NYC firms. Despite a great GPA for the first semester at my school, I realize the 1L firm jobs are going to the NYU/CLS etc... students at the top of their class anyway

1L first semester GPA of 3.8XX on a B curve from a law school in NYC ranked in the range of #50-60.

What do you think my odds are for transferring to NYU/CLS if I keep up the GPA or lower it by a bit next semester?

Not really interested in Fordham since my GPA puts me in the top 5% (judging from previous data) and their facilities are terrible.

I know a lot of people on this board has already sent quite a few cover letters and resumes to firms.

I was wondering if anyone applying for firms in NYC is willing to share which firm is asking for grades (indication they're still hiring) and which are telling you their class is full?

If anyone is willing to share, please post or pm me. Thank you!
