i think you have an excellent shot, depending on where you want to transfer to.
start emailing now for info to get some 'face-time' with them and let them know you are interested. be sure to let us know how it works out. i'm at 3.1/164 but may end up at texas wesleyan PT for a yr or so working out some personal issues....they're the only acceptance i have at this point in the cycle...but i would look at transferring out after i et personal stuff back to normal and would be interested in how it goes for you and if you have any tips. 4

ut is a big freach for me.
still haven't heard from smu. just got an acceptance email from texas wesleyan last night. if i end up attending tex wes, i could keep my regular job during the day and attend the PT program at wesleyan. still not sure. plan on going into IP law, and i'm not sure how the job placement would be from tex wes as opposed to smu. i may even end up in another state or putting it off a yr, depending on personal issues getting cleared up. anyone currenly attending or have any info? i think tex wes's reputation is getting better in the area, though only the top 10% or so can realistically compete with smu for biglaw jobs in dfw. 5

i still haven't heard back for this cycle, planning on starting in fall '07.
but i do know someone from the pre-law board with my numbers got a $15k scholarship at smu and is a 1L there currently. 3.1/164 mech eng from texas a&m with tons of soft factors: nuclear engineering on submarines in navy aerospace engineering at american airlines aerospace engineering at lockheed martin misc community involvement on hold from ED at ut to be reviewed with reular applicants, which is a reach, anyway. i may end up at UH. accepted at texas wesleyan, which would enable me to do part time and keep my job. (but then i may have limited opportunities for getting a job after law school as an IP attorney. /wrapping up a masters degree in summer '07 in engineering management, hoping to take the patent bar exam in summer '07 before starting law school in fall '07 8
