Actually, I am going to write a diversity statement. Yesterday, after reading jb1246a's post, I came up with a way to address my diversity from a different angle. This way the personal statement and the diversity statement will not repeat each other.
This is what I'll do: since in my personal statement I discussed specifically my background, in my diversity statement, I'll discuss my perception of the world, and how it differs from that of the mainstream. I'll back this up by showing how my unique perception propelled me to engage in different ECs, etc. Hope it helps! Let me know if you have further questions.
