I was seriously  :o myself, I kept verifying that I wasn't hearing things, and then wondering why the hell I don't have a nicer car.

Well, it is five minutes to my designated bedtime.  So I am out.  And hopefully I can moderate my online time and be out for awhile...

Til then  :-*

due to his working the type of job where one pays for large houses in cash.

Yes I saw you have that study group. I think you mostly just need an organizational strategy. Oh, yes and commercial outlines. Some people say they're a bad idea but they are a very good idea. Especially for civi procedure.

I think that is what we are aiming for - knowing how to organize ourselves before we get thrown into the deep end.

You usually don't have more than two in a day, but on legal writing day you will have three. And legal writing is usually late in the afternoon.

:sigh of relief:  That's good.  I am going to spend the next few months working on  my time management skills, doing a prelaw study group with another Hastings admit, and organizing my work area (file setup, printer config, etc).  I am so excited!

You don't get a choice in your 1L schedule, so it is whatever they give you. Classes can be as short as an hour, some are two. You have class about 15 hours of class per week but that's deceptive because you will be studying most of the time you are not in class.

I am hoping my classes will be close together - timewise I mean.  I just prefer to do all my studying at home.  I want to BART to school, BART home, study, and repeat.

Is it true that none are earlier than 9:40am?  About how many do you have in one day?

Well Lass, obviously you, like me, have insomnia problems  ;

I can't think of a lot I would have done or bought before 1L ... Well, actually I bought a lot of nonperishable food, shampoo, soap etc. in advance because I figured I'd run out of money (and I did.)

As for supplies, I have a whole bunch of highlighters and used a little color-coded highlighting system (I might as well just admit I'm a nerd, I never thought I was but, well if the shoe fits.)  Oh, and get lots of binders for your class outlines and flag-thingies.

I take my laptop to each class, though there are some die hards who insist on handwriting (you should take paper as a backup regardless.) I have a rolly bag because I have a lot of back problems, but some people carry backpacks.

Wear whatever you want to school, but I don't suggest heels, because you will be lugging a bunch of heavy crap around.

I have CHRONIC insomnia, you know that DB  :)  Okay, here is my question of the evening: How many classes did you have each week and what was the schedule?  I know some people had classes that started at 9:40, but generally how long were you in classes each day?

This thread is cracking me up  :D  I love you guys!  I am - as we speak - adding my title to my signature.

Is there anything that you wished you had done/bought before you started as a 1L?  Particular can't do without supplies, etc?  And do you take your laptop to every class?  And you a little rolling bag??

Also - and I know there are a bazillion threads out there about this - what is the usual attire for most of the Hastings folk?

I wanted to baff this thread - which I read during my law school app process - so that those of us who have been admitted and are going to attend Hastings can learn from last Fall's admits.

Hopefully some of them still check their unreads.  (DB, please come and give us new admits your words of wisdom!!)

I wish Sax was my neighbor...

He has good ideas for dealing with rabble rousers like fat neighbor.
