Current Law Students / Re: For the National Anthem in Spanish!
« on: October 12, 2006, 10:06:18 PM »
As the son and grandson of Cubans who came over to the United States in the 1959-61 rush. I find this upsetting and unnerving. My relatives came over, LEARNED ENGLISH, had to re-earn their diplomas, recertify, etc. and scratch a living for a very long time, and they did so, because they wanted to be like the rest of the americans that surrounded them. My grandfather's happiest day was becoming a citizen. While it may seem trivial, those of us that were brought up on those values, to become PART of the US culture rather than to be a subculture, find it disturbing that new arrivals, and older shiftless ones refuse to take part in what is really the immigrant's dream of america. The national anthem should be sung in this country's operating language, English.

what disturbs me is that nubian, if he/she is really nubian isnt kissing the ass of israel, as it was jews that invested, worked with, gave chances to, and helped proliferate americans who decide to call themselves "nubians". Many of those "neighboring states" that have had land "seized" (war and conquest is a legitimate means of taking land, go read property book before taking bar buddy) lost their land in conflict. I think its a good thing that a Law School is willing to support a valuable contributer to world healthcare improvements (lithropters, pills, geltabs, and MANY other medical implements and devices, technological advancements, agricultural and irrigation tech, etc., list goes on and on. Like it or not, Nubian, Hezbollah, and the rest of the naysayers here, there is a reason why the US supports Israel, and its not just a faith issue, its a utility issue. Go read some of the inserts to your medicine cabinet contains and see what I mean.

Current Law Students / Re: Are my feelings normal?
« on: September 27, 2006, 10:26:04 PM »
normal dude. The monotony and daily crap gets tiring... study, class, a-hole classmates... rinse wash repeat... its perfectly normal to even hate it. The trick (at least to me is) is to have a life outside of it. Do your work, etc GO HARD at it.. .but dude, when it hits 11-12 at night, stop what you are doing and watch something, read a book, have some tea... i honestly couldnt stand law school for the first semester. My gf was at home 900 miles away in FL, i had not gone out at all (im in DC) i just read, studied, repeated.
My grades were mid line, nothin awesome and i was severely dpressed by end of semester... when i came back tho, things were different.. I got in touch with the alumni dept of my fraternity and found 6-9 bros around teh DC area  (a few attorneys among them)and chill with them 1 time a week, when possible.. coffee, cigar shop, football at a bar, whatever... It helps.

Also, get sleep man, the lack of it will be cause for 99% of ur woes... and finals is a hard time to get sleep, so be sure to get it during the semester when you can.

Lastly, dont stress stupid *&^% in class... remember that 90% of ur grade is usually based on the final... all those jackass-tic gunner kids that ask and female dog and make stories to feel superior will likely bdo worse than the guy/chick who reads, listens to the pertinent parts, and does work on time...

religious compunctions aside, but the main problem with it is that its incompatible with modern thought, life, or decency. Look at what it does to the people it rules over in theocratic governments. They are stuck in 1654.

because god forbid someone makes thoughts that may apply differently to different situations.
