General Board / LAW SCHOOL, YUCK!
« on: October 01, 2005, 05:02:48 PM »
Law school is like the worst schooling I have EVER experienced by far.  I'm a 1L and the reading load is unbelievable.  I work a full-time job and go to school at night, 3 times a week and it's killing me.  I can't read all the cases and brief them and expect to memorize the black letter law.  Where am I going to have time?  I am not fortunate enough to be able to cruise through law school w/o working.

I HATE LAW SCHOOL RT. NOW.  THERE IS JUST NOT ENOUGH TIME IN THE DAY TO UNDERSTAND ALL THESE CONCEPTS.  *SIGH* SHOULD I QUIT???  THIS IS VERY STRESSFUL!!

Distance Education Law Schools / Re: anyone attends at ALU?

I know a person who went to ALU.  He passed the baby bar his first time and he passed his bar on the first time.  He give his law school rave reviews and said it's not socratic method style of teaching but rather lecuturing and teaching.

What happens when you can't pass the baby bar on the 3rd try?  Do you just repeat your first year?

General Board / Re: How necessary is a laptop?
« on: September 23, 2005, 05:58:25 PM »
I got a laptop for law school and it has helped me a lot.  I don't have to be stuck at home typing up briefs....I could go to the park, library, etc.  With the wonders of wireless internet, I am able to go onto the legal dictionary sites and copy and paste the terms below my briefs.  It's so much better to have a laptop.

As for exam, I type faster than I write so it's just wonderful except for the fee that the school applies on you because you're using a laptop.

Socratic Method / I hate the Socratic Method

I don't understand why they grill you so much and force you to think about getting called on rather than focusing on the lecture.  I don't like it.  I wish they would teach the normal way.  I don't learn from my own classmates.  I'd rather have the teacher answer the questions.  I've not learned a thing in class.  I'm learning from reading my books.
