Job Search / Freaking out
« on: September 12, 2007, 04:03:57 PM »
I've had 10 interviews, no callbacks. Top 33% (estimated?!?) and LR at top 20 school. Only one more week of interviews and I'm freaking out. What in the world is going on? Am I in this boat alone?

Job Search / How useful is Vault?
« on: July 24, 2007, 07:46:21 AM »
I am trying to research firms for OCI bidding. Is Vault worth the $60-70 subscription fee to read a bunch of anecdotal comments by current/past associates?

I am trying to find a way to go beyond the generic firm webpages and NALP directories that only talk about money and departments, and try to get a feel for the "culture" of the firm.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Current Law Students / Abortion Con Law Question
« on: April 27, 2007, 12:13:07 PM »
I just totally had my ass handed to me on my exam.

A and B sign a prenup, where B agrees that if she gets pregnant, she will either 1) abort the child or 2) A will divorce her on the child's birth and she will only get $500,000. However, if there is a divorce with no child involved, she gets $20 million. She wants to challenge the constitutionality of the pre-nup agreement.

Ok.. yeah. I found state action through judicial enforcement of the pre-nup agreement but after that, I could think of no way to invalidate it because unlike a state pressuring for life, here, B is pressuring for abortion, BUT, only using financial incentives. From what I understand, financial pressure is NOT a substantial obstacle.

Please, somebody with some insight into Con Law... enlighten me.

Current Law Students / Visiting Prof - How do you get old exams?
« on: August 15, 2006, 11:47:06 PM »
Ok so I found out that Vanderbilt placed me in section B while all my friends are in A....nice.

But I also found out that I have a visiting professor, Jonathan Cardi from U. Kentucky, for Torts.

Can I contact UK directly for exams, or do I need to track down a current student? How does it work?

Current Law Students / Outliner 4.0 VS OneNote
« on: June 22, 2006, 11:38:13 PM »
I know OneNote seems to be the overwhelming majority from the posts I have read... just wondering if anyone has used Storelaw's Outliner 4.0 and had any input? I am kinda leaning towards it, simply because it is law school focused and has the ability to link to cases, etc., directly...

Anyone have any sage wisdom regarding the two programs?
