So I was doing well until I just bombed a final.  I did very well (top 10-25%) in all my classes but one which I bombed. So I gave up my dreams of a big law summer internship (at least for my first year)... However, I got an opportunity to work at a state attorney's office but its going to be for zero pay.  I don't need the money... I need a good position.  The trick is that I don't know how long I can hold off on making a decision on the state attorney office what's your thoughts?

The benefits would be that i get to explore something outside of business??? What shoul I do?

SA office is in a small suburb outside of a major eastern metropolis.

I am (probably) moving to Iowa in July... I am visiting June 1/2nd to try to secure some housing.  As long as my wife can get a decent job there we'll likely be signing up.  However, I wonder if anyone else is visiting Iowa during that time?  I want to meet up with people because I simply haven't been in the midwest for about 2-3 years.  I missed the corn I guess...

Assuming you were practicing in Chicago is there a strong correlation between size of a law firm and salary?  Is so, what would be the approx. salaries for law firms at the following breakpoints:

Choosing the Right Law School / Local vs. reputation

Curious if anyone has more opinions on whether someone who graduates from U of Iowa or Chicago-Kent law will be more likely to get a job in Chicago... preferably big law.  I'm getting 10k from Kent.  Assume nothing else is important except for the prospect of future employment.  Kent obviously has location while Iowa has a superior reputation.

NALP results show that Iowa/Kent are roughly equal in firms interviewing.  However, Iowa has many more firms outside of Chicago hiring.

Choosing the Right Law School / CAN"T DECIDE!!!!

University of Iowa vs. Kent-Chicago Law ($10K scholarship).  cost of living isn't that much of a consideration.  I want to work in corporate law in a large law firm in Chicago.  My wife's increased salary would offset the additional cost of living in Chicago.

At this point I"ve had an equal number of people tell me I'm insane not to go to Iowa and Kent.  So what the heck!  All I care about is what kind of job I'm going to get out of school.

Incoming 1Ls / Iowa housing

Can anyone recommend a nice place to live near the University of Iowa?  By that I mean a two bedroom sufficiently large for 2 people who have been out of school for several years... not a run-down place most college students choose to live in.

Visits, Admit Days, and Open Houses / Iowa Living? NEED HELP
« on: April 10, 2006, 10:57:31 AM »
Does anyone have any recommendations on where to live near the University of Iowa?  I am married but no children.  I want to stay in a nice apartment not a "college" apartment, unfurnished.

most places I noticied really didn't look very nice.

Because I was torn between a few schools.  I tallied up the number of firms that visited the above schools:

School name  # of firms in Chicago    # of firms visiting from US

Illinois               41                         132
Iowa                   17                         125
Wisconsin              21                         86
Kent                   21                         43
Loyola Chicago         25                         40

Choosing the Right Law School / scholarship waitlist?

Anyone else get on the university of Iowa scholarship waitlist?

And since I'm asking, Wisconsin put me on a "hold" list which is supposedly better than a waitlist.

Law School Admissions / UIUC/Wisconsin unofficial waitlist

What's the deal with UIUC and wisconsin?  Virtually no one has heard from them if your application was sent in after December 19th... I think I can call myself on the unofficial waitlist.

Anyone else in the same pool?
