Incoming 1Ls / Can someone please talk to me about 1L supplements?
« on: June 29, 2006, 11:09:23 AM »
Okay, so I’m completely confused.  I’m trying to figure out the function and best use for each of the following resources.  Thanks for any help and please correct me if I am wrong.

1.Casebook – My main text.  Read all the cases and outline them.  Along with the lecture, should be my main source of info.
2.Commercial Outlines – Brands like Emanuel’s and Gilbert’s.  Should be used as a supplement, like Cliff’s Notes.  Should I buy them, or grab them from the library?
3.Reporters – No clue what they are or how to use them (or even if they are necessary)
4.Hornbook – An in-depth look at cases?
5.Nutshell / Examples & Explanations – Are these similar?  And what are they used for?

Law School Admissions / Can anyone help?

So I took the June 2005 LSAT and then sent my applications in November.  Then I took the December 2005 test.  Will LSAC automatically send my new scores to the schools to which I have applied?  I haven't received any confirmation that they have, so I was hoping someone here knew.  Thanks.

So I've been accepted to a few schools and I was just trying to get some feel for what everyone thinks is my best option.  I haven't fully researched these schools yet, so again, I'm just trying to get tenative idea.  Thanks.

Studying for the LSAT / Stress and the LSAT
« on: December 05, 2005, 09:18:55 AM »
So I took the December test and probably didn't do as well as I would have liked.  I took it in June and got a 163, which was about 5 or 6 points off of my average.  This time, I prepared for 3 months (first 2 about 2 hours a day and 3rd month about 4-5) and significantly improve my practice test average.  For my last 6 prep tests I took, I had an average score of 174.  Now granted, I don't have my December score, but I'm pretty sure I didn't rock out a 99% score.

I took the tests in a variety of locations and conditions, but I still was able to do well.  But on Saturday, when I began to take the first section, my brain just locked up.  Did anyone else find stress to be a major factor while taking the test?  After the first section, I calmed down, but the damage I think was done.  Tentatively, I would say that I missed 5 or 6 on the first section, and maybe 7 or 8 on the other sections combined.

So, I guess my question is does anyone out there think their test was significantly affected by stress and nervousness?

P.S. I hate the LSAT

Has BU requested anyone's info?  Does the fact they haven't reflect the school itself?
