So, I sent a school an email three weeks ago that read something like:

"Hey there,

I, uh, applied to your law school and confirmed that my file was complete in February.

I haven't heard anything since.  I was wondering if there's any update on my account.

So, I get this big packet from them late last week that's like "Congrats!  If you want to come to our school, let us know with 72 hours and send us $500!"

Weird.  I'm sticking with my first choice (school with similar rep in similar mkt at $12K/yr cheaper), but I did find the whole thing REALLY amusing.

I wonder where my application was for 5 months?  In someone's briefcase?  Under a giant pile of crap on an intern's desk?

 :o ;D

I've got half of a 4-bed house opening up in ten days.  Lease ends 8/31 and roommate is leaving early.  PM me is interested:

A perfect fit for a student returning to school in the Fall or a young professional who has a lease lined up for September.

I have two wonderful rooms available in Vermillion Hills, one of Levittown's most convenient, well-kept sections.

My lease ends August 31, my roommate is leaving early, and I’m looking to sublet two rooms from July 10 through August 31, 2006—or any portion thereof.

The price is negotiable, depending on what portion of the 50 days the room(s) is/are occupied and whether or not one or both rooms are rented. I am looking for about $100 per week, per room—paid in advance.

The house is a four-bedroom jubilee on a standard Levittown lot. The following are included:

•Wireless Broadband Internet
•Central Air Conditioning
•Cable TV
•Water & Sewer
•Washer & Dryer On-site
•Full, private bath
•Access to and use of all common areas of the home:
oKitchen / Dining area
oYard w/ large, covered patio
oSmall Pool and Horseshoe Pits

The location is commutable by car to Philadelphia, Princeton, Trenton, and all of Lower Bucks. It is also less than five miles from stops on SEPTA’s R3 and R7 regional rail lines and NJT’s Northeast Corridor line.

No drugs or heavy alcohol, please. Smokers okay. Friends of Bill W welcome.

We'll be gathering this weekend for libation, relaxation, and conversation.

Financial Aid / Credit SO bad I Can't Get Private Loans...
« on: May 09, 2006, 05:52:16 AM »
So, I just got my FA package from my school of choice.  Fed loans leave me with 4K after tuition payment.

So, I've tried a many lenders and I cannot--even with a co-signer--get any additional loan money.  I don't think I'll need MUCH more--maybe 10K for 1L, at most.

What can someone in my situation do?

Unfortunately, my EFC was on the high side for an independent, and I have NO savings, as I've been working diligently to reduce my bad debt to zero before entering school.

Any ideas?

Hey there, I’ll be attending Temple Law in the fall. I invite you to join the below Temple discussion board. Thought we should have a place to chat for future / on-the-fence Temple 1Ls. Drop by at:

Incoming 1Ls / Estimate your Law School Debt

I'll vote first:  I think that fed loans will just cut it:  vote into 31K to 60K.

I am.  You won't be able to miss me.  I'll be wearing a tie dye and smelling like cigarettes and spilled, stale beer from the Bob Weir concert the night before.

Choosing the Right Law School / The pickle: Where should I go?
« on: March 15, 2006, 11:52:22 AM »
Okay.  I'm WLed at Pitt and have yet to get a response from Camden or Syracuse.

However, these are the (financially viable) options I'll likely be faced with in a few weeks time.

I'd really appreciate a vote in the poll above.  Any comments you have will be appreciated, too.

General Off-Topic Board / Any New (Local) Bands worth listening to?
« on: March 06, 2006, 07:41:30 PM »
I'll offer one up:  Give them a listen, if you have a moment.  The song, "New Number One" is my favorite of the few posted.

I've been to see these guys a few times in the Philly area.

I just love myspace music.  What a great, cheap way to deliver good sounds.

Anybody hear anything that's tickled them recently?
