Incoming 1Ls / The wonders of Craigslist
« on: August 23, 2005, 05:46:40 PM »
For those of us moving to a new place and need to furnish it with limited funds ... behold, the wonders of craigslist: Craigslist is an like an on-line classifieds section, where people will post free or really cheap furniture that they need to get rid of. Sometimes people will also post garage sales. There's a craigslist for almost every major city in the US. Most college students have heard of it by now, but just in case, thought I'd pass it along for those of you who haven't.

Incoming 1Ls / LawPreview in Boston
« on: June 01, 2005, 09:21:46 PM »
Right now I'm trying to figure out accomodations for the LawPreview thing in Boston, and I just realized that a hostel room will run about $30 a night ... which is about the price of a 2 bd hotel room split between 4 people. I was wondering if there were any other females out there that would consider some sort of housing arrangement.

Also, is everyone else who's doing LawPreview, Boston or elsewhere, finding their accomodations through the program?

There's a thread somewhere on xoxo that the news comes out early June ... in this thread we wait ...

Financial Aid / Fed Loan "Origination Fee"???
« on: April 20, 2005, 12:17:49 PM »
So I just recieved a little card from accessgroup telling me that if I get my federal loans through them I get to avoid paying this little $550 "origination fee" that I would otherwise see deducted from my $18500.

What's the catch?

New financial aid board for posterity.

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Yale
« on: April 14, 2005, 01:10:05 PM »
The only other Yale waitlist thread is on the other board (,31221.0.html), so thought I'd post here. They let me know via phone, probably because I'd sent them an earlier email about my upcoming deadlines (tomorrow for NW and Boalt, and NYU on Monday).

Of course, given Yale's yield rate of 80% there's probably not great chance of them going to their WL this year, but just so you all know: don't get too freaked out if they call.

Choosing the Right Law School / Financial Aid Board Petition
« on: March 22, 2005, 02:35:46 PM »
I'm trying to get a separate board up for financial aid posts. Right now they're distributed all over the place, so I thought it'd be more organized if there was a separate board for all of them. I offer to be moderator, if one is needed.
