Leaning towards ND, but just got off BU waitlist. Both schools are similarly regarded. Would like to work in DC eventually, comments? Would it be crazy to pick ND?

Here's an idea:
If I have already submitted a deposit, but then decide to attend elsewhere, can I write off the deposit to the first school as a charitable contribution? All the IRS will see is a cashed check payable to School X.
Am I going to jail if I do this?
After a recent acceptance from the ND priority list, I have to soon pick between these two schools. Work Objective = east coast, likely going home to DC area.
Money isn't a huge facotr.
I am interested in general thoughts and opinions on both schools, and suggestions as to what you might pick, and why.
Just spoke to UNC on the phone for a "status check" (after not recieving a reply to two emails trying to do the same)
My file is complete (it has been since October) but the "dean has not made a final decision yet"
I can expect a final decision by "the end of the month"
The lady on the phone said she could tell me that all acceptance letters had been mailed, and if I hadn't received one by now my decision would be either waitlisted or rejected.
Sweet UNC. go kill yourself.
My parents called me this am and said that a letter from Fordham had just come, saying essentially what the status check on the website did. My app was "pended" and reviewed but no decision had yet been reached. It stressed this was not a waitlist. I've been complete there since early Nov. So essentially Fordham wrote to tell me that nothing was new? And they sent it to my permanent address? Anyone else think they are a bit odd?
I've been waitlisted at GW since late December. I recently graduated a semester early and took a job as a runner at a local firm to make some cash and kill time till the summer. I'm thinking of writing GW to tell them about it and play up my duties, etc, and to express my continued interest. Will they care that I am a runner? Should I even bother? Advice?
