Transferring / school transferred from
« on: April 16, 2005, 11:05:41 AM »
Just a quick question for everyone.  How important is the school that you are transferring from?  Is grades and class rank the most important factor or is the ranking of the school (specifically 2nd tier compared to 4th tier) a major factor?

Current Law Students / Syracuse or Suffolk
« on: March 24, 2005, 11:24:05 AM »
I have been trying to decide between these two schools.  I will be visiting each next week.  I understand the vast differences in location.  Can anyone give me some other specific insights on either school?  Any input would be helpful.  Thank you.

Does the fact that more firms recruit at one school as opposed to another tell us anything?  Just because a firm is on the nalp directiory for a particular school it doesn't mean that the firm actually is offering jobs to students form that school.  I'm just curious what everyone thinks the significance of oci's when choosing what school to attend.

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / USD
« on: May 13, 2005, 02:26:31 PM »
After 7 months to the day USD finaly rejected me.  Dated May 10  my #s are 3.44/153 applied pt.  I was assuming I would be rejected but am really annoyed that it took them 7 months to do it.  Good luck to the rest of you, looks like I get to see what winter is all about.

I have no desire to practice in upstate ny.  With that said I like everything else about both schools.  It would cost me three times as much to move (from cali) to Syracuse than it would to move to Boston and strangly enough the cost of living, for me, would be cheaper in Boston.  my concern is 1- I was interested in some of the programs at Syracuse and 2- I am struggling to get my head around the ranking difference.  I have posted similiar questions to this but would like any thoughts before I withdraw my app from Syracuse.  Thanks.

First they put me (and many others) in a hold category, then they wait until the end of April to waitlist me.  they are just as bad as San Diego with trying to get a final answer out of them.  an earlier post stated that miami told them that their seats were almost filled up.  If that was the case then why are they still offering waitlists to people?  Why wouldnt they just keep the ones already on the waitlist instead of adding more if they do not have many spaces left?  Looks like there is still hope for us.

Incoming 1Ls / asked for $ at Suffolk and got it
« on: April 12, 2005, 01:18:38 PM »
Last week I asked Suffolk to review my financial aid award letter.  I told them what Syracuse gave me.  They returned with an offer that matched and exceeded by a whopping $500.  i was hoping for more since Suffolk is a tier 4 and Syracuse just broke into tier 2.   I them asked Syracuse for more $ and they said "sorry you have the max."  So now both deposits are due Friday and I have no idea which one to choose.
