Incoming 1Ls / Hey Boston People--need advice on apartment hunting!!
« on: April 20, 2005, 11:05:33 AM »
Hey all,
I'm moving to Boston in June and am looking for a place and came across this company that gets people in touch with unlisted apartments for rent without brokers fees.
They also:
-Guarentee an apartment by your move in date.
-Get you set up with owners that have great deals but don't list them (so that they don't get overwhelmed with bad applicants).
They charge a $275 fee.

Please help, I'm in Pittsburgh and finding an apartment here is not nearly as complicated.
Is this kind of thing a good idea or is this company just trying to shake some money out of an ignorant out-of-towner?

The website is

Any advice would be great!

Incoming 1Ls / Law School Prep Course--worth it??
« on: March 31, 2005, 06:14:07 AM »
I knew it was coming.  I got a brochure in the mail yesterday for a five day law school prep course costing a little over $1000.
I was hoping to get some thought from people on this; is this at all worth it or is this just a chance for some company to shake out thousands of dollars from nervous impressionable pre-law students?
I've read a few books so I prepared or should I start pawning my belongings and take the course?  I'm sure I feel like a lot of people here: the fee is quite daunting and with an upcoming move and school it'll be a major stress on my finances to take this course.
I'm just very torn, I want to do well and if I were to know it is worth the money I would do it but I don't want to slam down all this cash if it's going to be a waste of time.
Please help!

Incoming 1Ls / Help!--Financial Aid questions
« on: March 22, 2005, 09:30:32 AM »
I've never applied for financial aid before and I have questions...can someone please help!!??!!

I filed my FASFA awhile ago and I think that is all good.  I checked back in and it said it had been filed and it also gave me an amount(can't think of what it was called).
My question is, what do I do next??  I need the whole cost of school covered.  What if FASFA doesn't cover everything.  When I accept at the school of my choice should I then talk to their financial aid dept?
Basically I've just filed FASFA and I'm not really sure what to do with it or where to go next.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hey all,
Has anyone out there heard from Duquesne?  I know they sent a few acceptances and rejections so far but in looking at LSN it seems to have been awhile since any new decisions have been made.
