Job Search / Job Search for a Transfer Student - HELP!
« on: January 24, 2007, 02:18:00 PM »
Hey guys - I attended a 3rd Tier law school during my first year and ultimately transferred up to a top 20 school.  I participating in OCI and sent out a few mail merges and havent yielded much luck.  I feel my 3rd Tier school isnt enough at all to get me in the door, let alone I just got a GPA, today, from my current school.  Is the big firm search pretty much dead in the water at this point?  Any general advice you would have would be great.

Transferring / T3 to T1 is possible
« on: June 24, 2006, 08:44:20 PM »
Hey guys, just wanted to wish those of you who are still waiting on transfer decisions good luck.  I received a call yesterday from George Washington letting me know they would accept my transfer application.  I am coming from a T3 school and couldn't be happier.  That being said, for those of you who worked really hard at the lower tier schools and are trying to transfer up to the tier 1 schools, it is definitely possible.

Is anyone familiar with the D.C. area, I'm trying to find a good area to search for housing.  Any pointers would be helpful

Choosing the Right Law School / HELP!!
« on: April 15, 2005, 07:45:49 AM »
Hey guys - here is my situation. I was rejected from one of my top choices, but I wrote a petition in light of new grade information (my class rank was initially reported as top 10%, but in actuality it was top 5%). I was informed this morning that the Dean of the school wants to meet with me on Monday. I live in the area, so getting there is not a problem. My GPA is 3.9 and my LSAT is a 155 - slightly under their radar. Does anybody have any idea of what  type of questions I should be prepared for, Im getting pretty nervous. Any advice would be great!

Choosing the Right Law School / UNC Update. . .
« on: March 24, 2005, 03:24:04 PM »
For those STILL waiting on a decision from UNC. . .

I spoke with their admissions office today; the lady I spoke to was very helpful and basically told me that if you are going to be accepted, you should receive your letter by next friday, April 1st. She said that if you do not receive a letter by this time, you have either been rejected or placed on the wait list. Good luck!

Choosing the Right Law School / Miami WL
« on: March 24, 2005, 03:21:06 PM »
Does anyone have any info on Miami's waitlist? Today I received word that I was waitlisted after being placed on hold in early december. I guess what I am wondering is if I really had a shot at getting in, or if being placed on the wait list this month puts me towards the bottom of the list. . .

thanks =)

I emailed the admissions office a few days ago regarding the status of my application - I got an email back today stating that this is the first year that the Dean is personally reading all 4,000 applications. The admissions office said that the end of next week is the target for the last wave of admissions decisions to be made. Thought you all might want to know. . . GOOD LUCK!

Choosing the Right Law School / Seat Deposits
« on: March 16, 2005, 04:19:59 PM »
I'm a little confused about the seat deposit - although it garuntees you a seat, is it binding? In other words, if I send in a seat deposit and later find out I got into a better school, can I choose to not attend the school where I paid a seat deposit?

Thanks =)

Choosing the Right Law School / Stetson Financial Aid Info
« on: March 14, 2005, 08:22:07 PM »
Hey guys, new poster here. . .

For those of you considering Stetson and wondering about financial aid - I called their financial aid office this morning and they informed me that most of the scholarship aid has already been sent out. They also said that you would not be notified about any other financial aid, other than scholarships, until they receive your seat deposit.
