Choosing the Right Law School / Akron vs. Capital
« on: May 18, 2005, 03:29:39 PM »
I was all set to move to Columbus to attend Capital ($11,000 per yr scholarship).  I can move in w/ my best friend, and my cousin is an attorney there, so I was really looking forward to it.  However, I just recieved a full tuition scholarship from University of Akron.  Should I change my plans this late?  Capital is in a better job market, but Akron is ranked higher.  Columbus is a better place to live, but Akron means NO TUITION.  What would you do???

Which one would you choose?  MSU- no $, Cleveland no $ (yet- they said its still possible) but in state tuition, Capital $11,000 pr yr.  I sent in the deposit to Capital only, am I making a mistake?

Does anyone think that there would be any sense in trying to transfer from Capital to OSU after the first year?  I know that my numbers aren't strong enough to get into OSU, so I didn't even apply, but I want to go there for 2 main reasons; 1) my cousin graduated from OSU Law School last year and immediately got a great job @ a Columbus firm and I'm sure that she could help me network in Columbus, 2) b/c I'm really interested in International Law (undergrad is Foreign Affairs/Political Science) and Capital has no IL track or concentration.  That being said, I'm sure my cousin's connections would be helpful if I went to Capital as well, plus the $11k per yr. Capital offered for tuition could mean that I graduate w/ under $50k law school debt.  Does anyone know if it is hard to transfer out of Capital?  I know the admissions process has driven me crazy this far and I'm not sure that it would be worth the hassle to do it again!   :-\

So far my options are Capital w/ $11k,  C-M w/ no $, MSU w/ no $, and Thomas Jefferson w/ $14k.  Just interested in some feedback from others who are accepted/cotemplating attending any of these schools. I have no idea where I'm going...

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Deciding between T2,3,4
« on: January 23, 2005, 07:23:59 PM »
Just wondering if there are others who are having trouble deciding between the lower tier schools to which they've been accepted?
Michigan State- T4 w/ no financial offers yet, but has many offerings in international law
U of Toledo- T2 w/ no financial offers, and they only offer a certificate in international law
