so yesterday i get a letter ( in a big envelope, mind you) saying basically that i am good enough for my app to go to the committee and that i wouldnt hear until april 15th...this sucks....a lot of deposit deadlines are april 1st ...what is this all about

okay here it is...i think it might be accurate...
he thinks that schools waitlist people below their "numbers" (fully knowing that a lot of those people will eventually come off) solely for ranking purposes. This is so the school does not have to report, for example, admitting a 145 to US News (which would bring their ave. down). does this make sense? anyone believe it? haha. I thought it was an interesting take on the situation.
