Where should I go next fall? / Withdrawn Waitlist/Rejection?
« on: May 27, 2005, 08:29:44 PM »
Has anyone withdrawn from a waitlist and then received a rejection letter a few days later?
On Tues. 5/24, I sent an email to school X withdrawing my application. I had been waitlisted around early February (as had everyone else with my index score.
) Today (5/27) in the mail,
I conveniently receive a letter postmarked 5/23 saying that I have been rejected from the waitlist. (Four days to travel? I don't think so. The school managed to request my LSDAS report two working days after I mailed it.)
I realize that anyone with access to a metered postage machine can set the postage date for whatever day they choose. I know that now is the time that schools may be sending out rejections from the waitlist, however, of my four waitlists, this is the only place that I withdrew and the only one that coincidentally sent out a rejection at the same time. I have to wonder if the rejection letter was in response to my waitlist withdrawl and the rejection is an attempt to bump up the school's selectivity score for US News. I'm so tired of all of this US News manipulation!
