For anyone (currently in DC) starting law school in the fall, I have the following Examples & Explanations hornbooks available. I found these incredibly useful throughout law school and the law has not changed so these are just as useful now as when I started 4 years ago.

Each of these retail for $30-$40, so this is a good deal.

Civil Procedure (Glannon) - this is basically a required text for first year.
Constitutional Law 1
Torts
Criminal Law
Contracts

You need to pick them up. I am at 15th and U NW.

Email me at norm012001@yahoo.com if you are interested.

General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / My new laptop
« on: March 31, 2005, 12:10:08 PM »
I finally took the plunge and bought my laptop for next year.  I got the Panasonic Toughbook Y2 based on the reviews I read on the Internet mostly.  I upgraded to 512M RAM but the rest of the system configuration is the same.  The primary bonuses to me were the fact that it weighs only 3.5lbs and has a battery life of 5 hours according to CNET.

Wait List / Surprise from UVa
« on: March 30, 2005, 09:04:29 AM »
I was very surprised to be placed on the UVa waitlist yesterday.  I was previously deferred from EA.  I am now on the non-priority resident waitlist.  My numbers are very low for them, so I was happy to see this reault.  I'm going to send them a letter with some developments in my application and hope for the best.  I know it's a very long shot, but we'll see.

Out of 7 schools, I ended up on 4 waitlists, that's got to be a pretty high average.

Where should I go next fall? / UNC Withdrawal
« on: March 16, 2005, 10:07:05 AM »
I aplied to UNC early in november and have yet to hear.  In all of my waiting, I basically settled on not attending there regardless of the result.  I was waiting on a decision just to see what happened, but I realized that this was a ridiculous thing to do since I would not go there, so I called and withdrew.  It was actually a nice feeling to know I don't have to check the mail waiting for a response each day, no more curiosity.

Now just waiting for a final answer from UVa and I'll be done.
