Current Law Students / Who has Midterms coming up?
« on: December 04, 2007, 09:21:36 AM »
I do, in about two weeks. Classes are in wind-down mode, work is dead (I'm at work right now), meaning I have ample opportunity to get some studying done.

I simply can't motivate myself to do it, though. I think I'm fried already. Any tips/advice? How are the rest of you with midterms holding up? What courses do you have midterms for?

General Off-Topic Board / Why Do You Approve of Bush? (Not Flamebait!!!)
« on: September 01, 2006, 09:48:45 AM »
PLEASE READ BEFORE RESPONDING
I am hoping people will indulge my idle curiosity here, and for those Bush supporters on LSD, I'd like to know why specifically you do support him and his administration.

I am NOT trying to goad people into arguments, and I would ask that people REFRAIN FROM RESPONDING WITH ANY CRITICISMS, REFUTALS, OR ARGUMENTS. I simply wish this to be an open topic without degenerating into a political brawl.

So, please, no trying to bait people into arguments or anything.

So, anti-Bush LSD'ers; PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND to this topic unless it's directly related to why that certain 30-or-so% of the population supports Bush.

I hope this works, because I would really like to know.  :)

General Off-Topic Board / "Egotistical Blowhards" or S&G forum
« on: August 29, 2006, 06:00:17 PM »
There's a thread of the same name on the Student and Graduate forum that is just *VICIOUS* about this pre-law board...

I'm wondering if there was some drama in the past that I missed or something, because damn, it's brutal and it doesn't make sense to me... ???

Incoming 1Ls / Legal Reasoning
« on: August 21, 2006, 07:25:38 AM »
I'm having a horrible time getting the hang of legal reasoning. Other than some very vague guidelines, the only other advice my resources have offered is that legal reasoning is somehow an "inate" ability that will only "eventually" manifest itself.

I'm not buying it. I think my resources just suck. Any suggestions?

Do me a favor...

If you get the chance on this historical day, crack open a beer, kick back, and thank our soldiers for ridding the earth of one of it's most despicable inhabitants.

Regardless of what you think about the war, or Bush, or anything else , if you have just a basic sense of decency and respect for life, be glad this poor excuse of a man is dead.

It won't end the war, but regardless of what side you're on, that's at least one more viscious, brutal, disgusting murderer wiped out of existence.

Congratulations, America.

As of tomorrow, I'll have officially deferred my enrollment into the Fall 06' GULC class, thus freeing up a coveted spot on the immense waitlist.

You're welcome.

Now, shower me with praise and presents for I am your Master!  ;)

(I'm seriously pissed that I have to wait another year, but that's the way it goes)

General Off-Topic Board / Stimulants!
« on: April 13, 2006, 11:30:48 AM »
Since we all have either already faced, or are going to face, long hours and late night study sessions, I'm curious as to what stimulants we all use to keep us going?

The Navy taught me some interesting ways of exploiting the noble coffee bean and tobacco leaf to stay awake, so those are my main two. What if any others do you all use?

Incoming 1Ls / ED GULC or Try again next year?
« on: April 02, 2006, 06:14:31 PM »
At first, I was ecstatic that I got into GULC's PT program for the upcoming fall semester. However, a couple of problems have since arisen.

First off, I might not be able to afford it this year after all. The whole point of applying for the PT program was so I could keep my current job. However, they are starting to indicate that our project will be over by the fiscal year, in which case, I couldn't be certain if and when I'd be able to find another job.

Secondly, after reviewing the 2006 stats, I'm now convinced that I could've easily have gotten into a better school, namely Columbia, but I decided not to apply with them at all because I don't like NYC and, with my job GULC PT would've been better anyway.

So, I'm wondering what my options would be at this point. I know that if I dont attend GULC this year, it means I can't go to any other law school *this year*. If that's the case, then I could take care of the job situation easily (a lot more options open up if I have a longer timeframe in which to pursue them) by doing a temporary overseas stint, then I'd have more than enough money to attend LS both full or part-time when I get back.

What I'm not sure about is whether or not my acceptance at GULC will simply be deferred till' next year, in which case, I would assume that I would still not be able to apply to other schools.

Just trying to get a handle on my options. I love GULC and would be more than happy to go there, and if my job situation is remedied before classes start, then I'll definately stay.
