Does anyone have a link to the Texas Bar results for this past winter? I got an email from the folks at Texas Tech today that says they led all TX schools in passage rates for the winter exam (91% approx). Just curious and wanted to compare this figure with that of the other schools in state...............

Law School Applications / Texas Tech: Applications waaaay up.....
« on: March 04, 2005, 04:30:56 PM »
From the student newspaper:
http://www.universitydaily.net/vnews/display.v/ART/2005/03/04/4227e734b8ea5?in_archive=1

Basically it says applications are up 12% this year when law school apps are down 3-4% nationwide.

Sounds like the school is getting a lot more competetive with other, more established Texas schools overall, which is amazing considering the recruiting drawbacks (aka..... isolated location out in Lubbock). Sounds like the new Dean(s) are very competant and have the school on the rise.......

....or maybe thats just my scarlet and black tinted glasses  8)

Since I'm already fairly set on going to Texas Tech, I've been perusing their student newspaper and found this article. It seems somewhat relevant to me or anyone else thinking about the JAG Corps, or anyone just particularly interested in military law........

The new Dean was the highest ranking JAG official before taking the position, he's a retired Army three star so it doesn;t surprise me he pushed for this......

Law School Applications / Intern for county DA, yes/no?
« on: January 20, 2005, 05:06:06 PM »
Help me out here.........I've already got all my apps in so a semester long internship wont give me a bump in that department(its too late).

But should I take an internship this semester at the DA's office just to get a feel for things and to help build some semblence of a resume?

Anyone ever interned for a local district attorney? Good/Bad experience?

It's 12 hours a week and at the ened I have to write a 12 page paper outlining it or some bs.......but I dont have a job and am only taking 14 hours, so I'm not terribly busy as it is....

Would an opportunity like this be worth giving up my lazy senioritis lifestyle?

Law School Applications / Need help military guys......
« on: December 02, 2004, 02:23:00 PM »
.....New poster, but I had a few question for any of the military guys on the boards.....

ROTC senior, bout to commission in the spring, and just recieved an educational delay for law school, heard conflicting stories about FLEP and just decided an Ed delay would be a better fit for me....anyway, Anyone else going this route? Know anyone who's done it? Etc....

Also, Are there any particular schools that offer in state tuition to guys in my situation (2nd Lieutenant, but inactive and not "assigned" anywhere)? Obviously most schools only offer in state rates to guys in the Guard or those stationed locally, but I was wondering if any school(s) is/are overly nice to servicemen......No more scholly money  ::)

Last question, but just in general, are there any schools particularly well-suited to the military types? I'm guessing St. Mary's (due to being in San Antonio), or UVA (JAG school) are somewhat partial, anywhere else I might get a few extra points? History of producing JAG guys, ex-JAG Corps heavy faculty, etc....

Basics about me......average white guy, 3.53, 156, a few clubs/honor societies but nothing really outstanding, so gimme some realistic options......
