General Off-Topic Board / Jazz
« on: July 13, 2006, 07:16:50 PM »
OK this is the jazz thread.  I love jazz, and I can't specifically recall anyone ever talking about it before on LSD.  I am sure I am not the only person that is into this music, so I am posting here.  Feel free to represent yourself.

And if nobody responds, you all have lame taste in music.

Incoming 1Ls / Examsoft - Laptop - Floppy Drive?
« on: April 22, 2006, 09:18:16 AM »
I'm sure most of us are going to be buying laptops for or bringing our laptops to law school.  I don't know how Examsoft works, and I was wondering if it required a floppy drive?  I don't have a laptop yet, but it looks like most notebooks do not come with a floppy drive anymore.  What's the deal?

Has anyone else heard the new single from the forthcoming Tool album yet?  Thoughts?

Law School Admissions / Pitt - what's the word???
« on: March 06, 2006, 09:36:09 AM »
I've been looking over LSN and can't get an accurate picture of how long Pitt takes to review its applicants.  It seems like it is anywhere from a month and a half to longer, but sometimes only about a month?  Also, I see some people with the same index getting scholarships while others are rejected -- I can't figure out a real pattern to what they're doing.

Anyone have any insight into what their timelines might be like?  Do they tend to be a school that sends out a lot of acceptances in waves/blocks, or late in the cycle?

Any info would be great, even though usually these sorts of questions tend to end up as the blind leading the blind :)

Financial Aid / FAFSA - Expected Family Contribution
« on: February 27, 2006, 05:31:57 AM »
I just filled out the FAFSA on the Web application.  At the end it gave me a confirmation page to print out which had the following bit of info on it that concerned me:

"Your estimated Expedted Family Contribution (EFC) is: 12060"

I am hoping this is a code of some sort, and not a dollar value.  I am 26 years old.  My parents are not paying for any of the legal education I am about to undertake, and I was planning on paying for the entire thing via loans, meaning, $0.00 contirubtion from anyone who isn't named PNC/Wachovia/American Education Services/etc.

Does anyone know what this EFC is all about?
