Anyone care to share structure of how they are taking their notes in onenote. I was thinking of dividing it up by course, then by outline, briefs, and notes then possibly making a subpage for each brief and days worth of notes? I'm unsure on how i'd like it structured and wanted to see other's ideas to possibly get some inspiration, thanks in advance!

Current Law Students / Good GPA, Decent LSAT
« on: July 12, 2004, 08:30:16 AM »
I noticed another post on this board concerning the opposite situation I'm in. I have a 3.92 UGPA, 4.0 in major. I took my LSAT in June and performed poorly compared to my timed practice tests I took through Kaplan (averaged 158) on the actual test I recieved a 153 (ouch). I have what I would consider outstanding letters of recommendation from my undergraduate professors. I am looking at the following schools for admission:

Stretches: University of Texas

First Choices: Southern Methodist University, and Baylor University

Safeties: Texas Tech, St. Mary's, Texas Wesylan, South Texas, and Texas Southern

Yes, I am applying to all schools in TX.

I guess my question to everyone is, are my first choices realistic for the scores I have? I do not want to take the LSAT again in October unless need be. I realize my chances of getting into UT are slim to none. But I would really hope I have a fighting chance of getting into SMU and Baylor. Anyone have any advice?? Thanks in Advance!

I'm trying to complete my loans by web application and I'm deciding between Acecss Group and THE Northstar, anyone know if Northstar has a penalty for early repayment of stafford loans? I noticed Access Group doesn't, but Northstar doesn't mention repayment. Please help!

I've noticed a lot of us on here love our steaks and bbq. So, here's the question: What's your favorite cut of meat and how do you like it prepared?

General Off-Topic Board / Ayn Rand-- Anybody had the pleasure?
« on: March 10, 2005, 08:35:51 AM »
I've grown up a Objectivist Capitalist from the school of Ayn Rand. I was just wondering if anyone else on this board was a true scholar and has read her works, or if y'all are just forced to read for your classes.

Any of y'all had the pleasure of reading The Fountain Head, Atlas Shrugged, or The Virtue of Selfishness?

I hope I am not the only student out there that has read some of the economic classics like the books above. I'd like to hear anyone's impressions on these books if you have read them? Or if y'all had any other required reads that you'd like to share with the un-enlighted?

In breaking news today, Texan29; a SMU Law ED Applicant, was deferred for further review of his application.

He could not be reached for comment at this time, but his lawyer states: "We are all very startled by this development. At this point and time we do not know the what the outcome of this situation will be."

A press conference has been scheduled outside the Texas Tech School of Law in Lubbock, TX later this weekend.

Rest assured that this LSD journalist will follow this developing story closely. Any further developments will be reported as they are made available.

Choosing the Right Law School / Texas Tech...

Admissions paranoia is setting in and I need some help from the few others on this site that have heard from Texas Tech.

My question to you all is: How many email correspondences did you receive from them?

I received a first email saying that my application had been processed and that once my official lsac file was received my file would be complete. Then, I received an email on the 6th of December saying that my application was complete and they expected to begin reviewing my application the next week which would have been the week of the 13th. Since then, I have been waiting until today and have received no further updates from them and no acceptance, denial, or waitlist letters.

I applied regular decision so I was not restricted by ED commitment even though now possibly I wish I would have applied ED.

Should I be worried about the decision delay from the week of the 6th until now?

Maybe paranoia has just set in, but I've noticed other people on this site have received acceptances and waitlists and I have not heard anything since those emails. If anyone else can share their Texas Tech application process it would be helpful and hopefully reassuring. I'm beginning to think I will hear from SMU under ED before Texas Tech.

Regardless if Chiashu is anywhere near credible, I am at 95% on there which should reassure my acceptance right?

I'll step down from my soapbox now!

Choosing the Right Law School / Calling all Texans...
« on: November 12, 2004, 06:49:05 PM »
Hey y'all I need a huge favor.

I am not a native Texan but have moved here to go to law school and stay in this state forever because I love it. I have applied to Baylor, SMU, Texas Tech, and Houston. I am familiar with the Central Texas Area and have been around Austin, Waco, and DFW a lot. I really like and am partial to these cities and yes even Waco isn't the bad even though y'all make it sound like hell. Regardless, I need some opinions on Lubbock I plan to make a trip out that way but I would like some opinions of people who have lived around / near there. Is Lubbock a nice city? I really love the culture and environment in Central Texas and wondered what everyones opinion was on Lubbock because I am really getting curious after hearing some pretty good things about Texas Tech Law.

I would probably be moving back towards Central Texas after Law School, but does anyone think that Lubbock has a decent corporate law field out there?

I just need people's opinions of the area! Thanks in Advance!
