Current Law Students / Summer Employment Start Date
« on: June 20, 2005, 05:58:14 PM »
Hi all:

I'm about to start my 1L year, and I had a quick question surrounding summer associate/interships/whatever sorts of employment a 1L is lucky enough to find.  I know it seems VERY premature to be thinking about this already, but I'm getting married sometime within the next year, and we're trying to narrow down a date.

So, does anybody have a good general idea of when summer positions start?

Current Law Students / 1L Summer Employment Schedule

Hi there:

I've recently gotten engaged, AND I'll be starting out as a 1L this year.  Obviously, there will be no time whatsoever for a wedding during the school year (unless we slip it in quickly in Decemeber), so I was wondering if anyone knows when the Summer Internships/Externships for 1Ls generally begin.

Do they start immediatly after school ends?  Are there generally a few weeks in between?  What about the end of these postions?  Do they run through the ENTIRE length of the summer, or are there a few free weeks on the backend as well?

Any information anybody can provide will be greatly appreciated.

(Oh, and in case anybody was worried about how on Earth I'd plan a wedding during law school... I'm the groom.  I just need to show up.   ;))

And just when I was expecting a rejection... the plot thickens!

Plain 'ole little envelope.  I'd be bummed, but at least there's some satisfaction in being able to continue rooting against the Irish.   ;)

So, I'm currently reading Law School Confidential and I've just gotten to the part in which he mentions that there are schools that have notoriously bad atmospheres and are home to all the book-hiding nonsense that everybody always hears about.

Anyway, while I'm sure much of this is blown out of proportion... does anybody know of any schools that are supposed to be pretty cut throat?  I figured we could compile a list of them here, with anecdotes and whatnot.

EDIT: And yes...I KNOW there are some similar threads... but they all seemed to consist of "My cousin's dad's brother dated this chick who once drove by Hastings on a Friday and..." sorts of stuff.  I'm looking for specific examples.   :)

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Northwestern ding

No shocker here... although I figured the interview (which I nailed) might at least land me on the waitlist.

Oh well, such is life.   ;)

Choosing the Right Law School / Northwestern?!
« on: January 06, 2005, 12:49:31 PM »
Check this out:  Northwestern sent me their "You have an admissions decision on our website" email.  So, I go to check it... and I need an ID number.  I call Northwestern to see where I can find said number, and they tell me that they'll be sending them out via email this afternoon.

So... I get to spend my day knowing that there's a decision, but not being able to find out what it could be.

Good times.   ;)

Actually, this would be much worse if I wasn't 95% sure that it's a ding, but still... the drama!
