Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Santa Clara PT
« on: May 07, 2005, 03:00:36 PM »
Got the letter today.
Promptly sent back the notice refusing a place on the waitlist.

I just got a letter from GMU inviting me to participate in the Pre-Admission Summer Trial (PAST) program.  I was originally waitlisted in March.  It says, they are not able to offer me admission, but if I participate in PAST, they MIGHT let me in.
Cost $300 refundable if not accepted afterwards.  Also, if accepted, it's only for the PT program.

I will not be participating.  I'm headed to USD.  Justed wanted to let people know to expect this sort of letter. I live in DC area, and the letter is dated 4/28/05.

Incoming 1Ls / Headed to USD?..Who are you and where are you from?

I will be in the PT program.
Working full time at Fish & Richardson prosecuting patents by day.
From the East Coast, DC area (Alexandria, VA).
Currently a patent examiner.
My wife will also be at USD PT.
So, obviously married.
And old, 33.
Brand new to the West Coast.
Will need lots of new friends there.
With such a small 1L class, I hope to do just that.

And, where will you live????

Very happy about this.  ;D
USD is the only school my wife has been accepted to so far, and so I really needed this one.
Letter date 04/05/2005.

Unless my wife hears good news from Hastings, I'm headed to San Diego.

Just came back from visiting USD over the weekend, and I saw a large stack of apps that came back from the committee.  They expect to mail those out very soon.
Good luck to everyone!

And I loved the campus.  Very beautiful.  And everone seemed so friendly and laid back.
I got a nice tour from a second year (Kimball?). I believe she appears on the USD brochure.  During the tour, one of her prof walked by and they talked to eachother like friends.  She calls him by his first name.  That's how friendly the faculty is apparently.  And get this.  According to Kimball, some of the profs will actually grade a sample exam for you so you won't bomb your final (which is your only grade in 1L).
Very good impression of the school, students and faculty.

The building is old but nice.  It's definitely not nice like UVA law school (those attending UVA knows what I mean), but nice enough.

Letter received today, dated March 22.
As reported by others, the envelope was not sealed.

No surprise here, and didn't really want to go there anyhow.

Choosing the Right Law School / Next round of GMU decisions
« on: March 16, 2005, 07:02:56 AM »
According to Dean Richard, there may not be any acceptances going out this week.
Looks like next week is more like it.;f=8;t=000148

Choosing the Right Law School / From the GMU forum
« on: March 02, 2005, 06:01:18 AM »
For those of us who received that postcard saying not to expect a decision until March 15th, here's Dean Richard's comment from the GMU forum.

"We are working very hard to get decisions out as quickly as possible. We are working on a large group of complete files now and hope to send many decisions out between now and March 25th.";f=8;t=000141

So may be a decision can be expected before and after the 15th.

Good luck to us all.

Incoming 1Ls / Hastings Admitted Student Day?
« on: February 22, 2005, 02:56:31 PM »
Just got my invitation to attend either on March 26 or April 9th.
Anyone attending? If so which date?
I'm on the East Coast and it will depend if I can get a good deal on flights.
