Law School Applications / When you finish your applications...
« on: December 31, 2005, 03:41:59 AM »
...do you feel an emptiness, now that there is nothing left to do but wait for decisions?

...has your obsession with LSD/LSN finally taken over your previously healthy internet life?

...do you spend your days camped out by the mailbox, alternately cursing or kissing your mail carrier?

****************************************************

here is an alternative...

come on down to el salvador for a week in march to be an international election observer. no spanish or election observation experience necessary. (but a little spanish helps, obviously.)

i did this for three months in 2004, and i'll be there doing long-term observation (from jan - may 2006). we will be monitoring the political campaigns, setting up the observation mission for the observers who come for the week of the elections, and sticking around after to help write the report. here is the link to the NGO i work with, see options 2 and 3 at the bottom of the page.

http://www.cis-elsalvador.org/election_observers.htm

i know it isn't super-cheap, but it is a fascinating experience, and a great way to see first-hand some of the struggles of a developing democracy. plus it beats stressing about decisions.

if you pm me that you are coming to el sal, first round of drinks is on me! ;D

(mods - i wasn't sure if this is posted in the right place - apologies in advance if not...)

Reviews, Visits, and Rankings / Is April too late to visit?
« on: December 06, 2005, 05:31:25 PM »
does anyone know by what date we will need to notify schools of our intent to enroll? i won't be able to visit schools until april, and i would really like to visit the ones i get into BEFORE i have to commit to where i want to go.

(assuming i get in to a school, let alone several schools.)

All five books are in excellent, though well-read, condition. No writing anywhere, no ripped pages, nothing to distract from the tests and drills!

Please PM me for info, will sell bundle or separately.

(I am passing along good karma - I studied hard with these books and scored a 170 (6/05).)

For logistical reasons, I need to start getting my PS and addenda in line now, so I can't wait till the 2006-7 apps come out in September.

Anyone know if historically the application questions re:personal statement, etc. stay the same or change?

TIA for your help...

Studying for the LSAT / history of early score release question
« on: June 24, 2005, 04:10:54 PM »
anyone know if lsac has ever released the scores (early) when their office is officially closed, ie, over the weekend?

if not, then it looks like we have about 34 minutes before their office closes for the weekend, and we wait till monday. "Hours of operation are September to March, 8:30 A.M.- 7:00 P.M. (ET); April to August, 8:30 A.M. - 4:45 P.M. (ET)"

if so, then it looks like we will be attached to the internet all weekend long.

any recommendations for books regarding the entire application process?

i could use advice on the works, from ps/lor to how to evaluate schools and research different programs strengths to navigating the entire application process from soup to nuts. (maybe i shouldn't have used that particular expression...)

i am hoping for feedback from people who have personally used any of the following...
