Law School Discussion

(Already posted on XOXO - but re-posting here for those who don't cross-pollinate...)

I wasn't going to say anything until I see how it all plays out, but...

I got a call today from the HLS Director of Admissions (I am on the wait list). It was pretty much the same type of call that the deferred/admits and other late admits were getting a while back (i.e. would I go if offered admission at this point). I was stunned, and just hope I didn't come off like a complete moron. We talked for a little while (about why I want to go to Harvard mostly), and he told me I should hear back in a few days. I am, of course, freaking out. (How much would it suck if I blew my chance at HLS because I sounded like an idiot on the phone?)

Anyway, here's the part that's actually of interest to y'all - I was told that there are "a few" spots open, and I was "one of the people that they are looking at closely" to fill them. Just the impression I got, but there will probably be some more calls going out to the waitlist soon. So keep an eye on your voice mail!

Can't find the Penn thread, so I'm starting a new one.

Via email, about 40 minutes ago (sometime after I left work, and before I logged in at home).

Before someone asks, I did write the "Why Penn" essay, although mine was a little risky because I actually told the truth: it's a very good school located in an area that offers employment opportunities for my spouse, plus we have several close friends in the area (so hubby would have a ready-made social life, and I wouldn't have to feel bad about focusing on school). I said it a little less baldly than that in my statement, but that was the upshot. Nothing about specific Penn programs at all.
