Pittsburgh / recommend a bank« on: June 29, 2005, 09:05:28 AM »
To all locals: It seems that PNC and National City are the main banks in the area. What bank would you recommend? I currently use a locally owned bank in Kentucky and love it. It seems like there are more national cities in shadyside and oakland. Any suggestions?

Do any of you know how the inspection thing works and what it is going to cost me? I am missing a side mirror and was told it will need to be replaced to pass the safety inspection but what other costs am I looking at? Thanks for any info.

Any suggestions on movers to avoid? I've gotten written estimates from 2 and it seems expensive to me. Also, anyone from Pitt who can fill me in on slumlords to avoid. I'm praying to find a little place with a yard for my dog like I have now, but I am not very optimistic.

Did anyone apply and if so have you heard anything? The waiting is killing me. Without this scholarship I don't think I can afford to go and I am beyond ready to decide where I will be attending school.

I, like everyone else on this board, have been anxiously awaiting letters from schools. Early last week I go online to the USPS website to request my vacation hold for my mail bewteen 12/24-12/30 when I am going home. I go about my business going home each day to an empty mailbox wanting to scream because the schools are torturing me. I finally have the bright idea today to call the post office and see if there was a mix up with the date my mail was to start being held. I called them and wouldn't you know it . . . the person who entered in my hold made a mistake and my mail has been held since last Wednesday. Talk about cruel.

How do you find out about a school's grading policies? Do you think it is kosher to call the admissions office to ask about median grades and such? Any thoughts?
