Current Law Students / Describing Summer Internship on Resume
« on: July 11, 2006, 09:34:44 AM »
I'm working in house at a software company as a 1L Summer.  I was hired as the IP intern, but I really do all sorts of things.  In fact, I've touched a ton of different areas, very broadly.

Anyone have any advice how to succicntly describe this on a resume, or should I just say the old student of all fields, master of none?

Current Law Students / Law Patent Program Interviews in Chicago
« on: June 28, 2006, 12:59:53 PM »
I started a thread about this here:,4722.0.html

I figured I'd advertise here since this forum probably gets more traffic.  Is anyone going / interested in going out the nights we're there?  What firms did you get selected for?

Job Search / Law Patent Program Interviews in Chicago
« on: June 28, 2006, 11:17:39 AM »
Hey there,

Is anyone else signed up for the Law Patent Program Interviews in Chicago on August 3rd and 4th?  I have a couple fraternity brothers there I will be going out with, but if anyone else is going, maybe we can chill after the interviews.

Bonus points if you're female, single and attractive ;)

Current Law Students / Anyone buying instead of renting?
« on: July 06, 2005, 01:36:57 PM »
I'm looking at the option of buying vs. renting.  Is anyone else contemplating this?  Have any of the older students gone this route?  I've crunched the numbers, and it seems to be a financially wise decision.  However, any advice would be great.

Current Law Students / Things you wish you would have known as a 1L
« on: April 27, 2005, 07:54:50 AM »
I had some general questions about things I should know before starting as a 1L.  Hopefully you seasoned veterans can help me out.

1. When do people normally take the bar exam?  I was under the impression that you would take that as a 3L, but someone said they were going to try the patent bar before their first year (wtf?).

2.  What are the main differences between the patent bar and the regular bar exam?

3. What are the summer intern opportunities for 1L, 2L?  What is the work like?  What is the pay like?

4.  Any other things that are generally helpful to know about the process going in? Things you wish someone would have told you up front?

Choosing the Right Law School / BC'08
« on: April 26, 2005, 05:09:44 PM »
I happen to see alot of BC people popping in and out of different threads.  I thought it would be nice to have a central location to talk about things, such as where we are living, etc.  Mostly, this is because I despise that WebCT atrocity on the admitted student's website.

So, I'll start.  I'm going to BC :)

Choosing the Right Law School / BC Financial Aid Appeal Results
« on: April 21, 2005, 11:47:27 AM »
I called Boston College about receiving more financial aid.  They told me to email them a word document with my appeal.  I emailed it to them today at 1:37 PM.  I received a response email from them, tellinh me there was no more money, at 1:49 PM.

I don't know whether to be amazed or appalled.  Either way, this makes waiting on Duke look like a slightly more intelligent option.

Choosing the Right Law School / Boston Roommate Wanted
« on: April 19, 2005, 11:26:23 AM »
I'm 99% sure I'm going to BC, and am interested in finding a potential roommate.  I can live with a guy or a girl, and am pretty damn easy to live with.  If you're at all interested, PM me and we can see if there is any mutual interest.

Choosing the Right Law School / Austin Sublease Available
« on: April 19, 2005, 11:24:54 AM »
If anyone is interested, I'm looking to sublet my apartment in austin.  If you want to see it, go to  The lease goes through November, is renewable, and you'll have a 23 year old Computer Engineer roommate whoe is employed fulltime. It's in North Austin (Parmer and 35).  Rent is $350 / month.  It's 1000 sq ft, floor plan B on the website.

PM if interested.

So, I have a question concerning any differences between the atmosphere at Boston College and other similarly ranked schools.  I have been through the catholic school system my whole life (K-12), uniforms and all.  I'm not expressly excited to go back to that.  I know that BC won't be like that, but do they have any religious customs that make them stand out as a NOTICEABLY religious organization as opposed to other law schools?  Examples?
