Incoming 1Ls / Starting this fall, now getting anxious...
« on: April 16, 2006, 04:08:13 PM »
Well, I got accepted to the school I wanted, Wayne State.  It's a T3, but it's cheap comparative to any private schools, so I'm cool with it.  Now that I've been accepted and paid my seat deposit fee though, I'm starting to get anxiety.  I've had anxiety disorder for awhile and can normally control it fairly easily.  However, now that I'm accepted and am starting this fall, it's all become so real.  I always dreamed of getting to this point, but now that I'm here, I'm scared shitless that I won't be able to cut it, or that something disasterous is going to happen.  Has anyone else here had this feeling of worrying about what might happen once you start or is it just me?

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / In at Wayne State...

Got into my first choice.  Got the letter on Friday.  Barring a significant scholarship from Seattle or Case Western, I'll be going to Wayne.  WOO HOO!

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / HOW THE HELL???
« on: March 25, 2006, 07:56:00 PM »
I got dinged by University of Detroit Mercy, a very low-ranked tier 4 school, after getting accepted by MSU, a high ranked tier 3 school.  HOW THE HELL IS THIS POSSIBLE???  Granted, I would have chosen MSU over U of D anyway, but it's a major blow to my pride.  My numbers were way above even the 75 percentile at that school  It was purely a safety school for me.  WHAT ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH HAPPENED?  I wonder if my "unfortunate" separation from the Air Force had something to do with it, but they got the same addendum for that, that MSU did and MSU didn't even hesitate to accept me.  I got an answer the day after my file went complete.  This kind of shakes my confidence about what Wayne, my first choice is going to do.

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / In at MSU...

They are my second in-state choice.  No mention of scholarships or anything though.  They want a $200 seat deposit, but they're not likely to get it by April 1 because I am still waiting to hear back from Wayne on their decision.  Tuition's just too high at MSU without a scholarship of some kind.

Studying for the LSAT / On a more funny note...
« on: February 05, 2006, 06:41:08 AM »
Something just came to mind that I forgot about in my depression yesterday, that I thought was quite funny.  When we had to write the certifying statement, someone actually asked if it had to be in cursive.  When the proctor said yes, he said that he didn't know cursive anymore because he hadn't used it in years.  The proctor was like, "Well fake it or something, just find a way to connect your letters together and they might not care.  Come on guys, you're supposed to be lawyers, or going to be lawyers."  I guess I probably shouldn't have thought it was so funny, but I couldn't help it.

Studying for the LSAT / You know what sucks about this post mortem?

None of us will ever be able to say, "I told you so!".  Actually, what really sucks is we'll never really know for sure what the right answers were.  We can all sit here and guess and hope the majority consensus comes up with a reasonable degree of accuracy, but we'll never really know for sure.

Studying for the LSAT / I must now commit seppuku to regain my honor...

Ok, that was really bad.  I'll be so lucky if I even got a 156 on this thing.  I totally bombed the logic games portion.  I think I might have gotten half right.  Maybe more if several of the answers to games 2 and 3 were D.  Logical reasoning wasn't so bad for me except for one of the sections I had to guess on the last 2 because I was running out of time.  The reading comprehension was not the hardest, but it wasn't exactly easy either.  I honestly can't say how badly I did, but I'm certain the score will not be above a 158 and I seriously doubt it will even be that high.  I have only one thing to say about this... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG GGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Studying for the LSAT / Results of my last practice LSAT...
« on: February 02, 2006, 09:07:50 PM »
Well, I just got done taking the December 2005 LSAT and I got a 167 on it.  That's unheard of for me, completely out of my average.  My average has been around 158, but I got a 161 on the October LSAT and a 167 on the December.  That's rather interesting.  I wonder what kind of pleasant or unpleasant surprises I might find on the LSAT Saturday.

Studying for the LSAT / New personal record score on a practice LSAT...

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I scored a 161 on the October 2005 practice LSAT.  That's the highest score I've ever gotten on a practice before and it's on the hardest scale ever.  I'm feeling really good right now.

Anyone else out there having pre-test anxiety?  My nerves are totally shot.  I'm afraid that all that practicing will do no good and that I will freak out and go blank during the test from a panic attack.  I'm probably going to take a Valium that day just to be on the safe side.  Haven't had to take one of those for months though.  It kinda sucks.
