Lewis and Clark / Preview Day
« on: March 19, 2005, 04:30:15 AM »
Did anyone else attend the mixer last night and the preview today? What did you think? I'm already decided, so I wasn't really the intended audience, but I still had a great time and am VERY excited for classes to start.

Financial Aid / Received non-certified loan
« on: August 01, 2005, 09:01:51 PM »
I just wanted to post that I just received my $30k non-certified loan funds today from BofA. I applied a few weeks ago with a cosigner (my husband) and was approved after a few days (DH has a fraud alert on his credit reports so it slowed the process down a bit). I kind of sat on the application for a week or so and faxed it in early last week with my tuition bill and DH's paycheck. They disbursed the funds on Friday and I received the check today. Very, very fast turnaround. If you need extra money on top of your certified loans (or you need money prior to classes starting), this is definitely the way to go. I have heard horror stories about Bank One making the check out to the school, giving applicants a hard time about proof of enrollment, etc. I didn't run into any of that with BofA.

Oh, and I received the full $30k - the fees (6.5% - ouch!) are added on to the total owed.

General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / LEEWS Question
« on: April 29, 2005, 09:47:18 PM »
I just received LEEWS (bought via the Barrister books website) and I'm confused by something. In several places, it is noted that if you attempt to 'download' the cds to your harddrive, it will render the CDs inoperable except on a regular cd player and may damage your computer cd drive. WTF? I can't think of any way that this could be possible. Can anyone verify that this is a total lie? It's weird to me that they could publish such blatant lies.

Studying for the LSAT / Should I Retake?
« on: October 23, 2004, 02:32:15 AM »
I'm hoping to go to Lewis & Clark (I live in Portland, own a house and don't want to move). Scored 165-170 on my practice tests, yet completely bombed on LR and LG and got a 161. Normally, I only miss 1, maybe 2, on LG - I missed 5 on the real thing. On LR, I usually miss 10-12 total - I missed 15 on the real thing. During the test I felt like I was in a panic on one of the LR sections and wasn't super focused on LG. I think I was overly confident and didn't study enough or take it as seriously as I should have.

I think that a 161 will get me into L&C (I don't have an UGPA, since I went to a school without grades, although the school is in the region, L&C is familiar with it and I did pretty well), but I want some money to help with tuition.

Should I retake the test in December? I'm 99% sure I will do at least a few points better and I think those points will help me get more money.

Thanks!

Where should I go next fall? / Campus visit thread?
« on: September 12, 2004, 03:51:39 PM »
A few weeks ago I found a thread where people posted about their campus visits. It was quite long and talked about a lot of schools. I'm pretty sure it was on this forum, but maybe it wasn't. Anyone know where I might find this again?

Thanks!
