Choosing the Right Law School / Houston WL
« on: March 10, 2008, 02:05:29 PM »
Waitlisted at Houston (top choice) late last week.  :-\

Any other Houston WL's? Anyone...anyone? Misery loves company .

Info for WL's from the UHLC website:
"The Admissions Committee will begin to review applicants on the waitlist after all decisions have been mailed, generally in late May to mid June. The waitlist is not ranked. Candidates on the waitlist will receive a second full-file review by the Committee, so candidates are encouraged to submit additional new information, such as updated resumes and statements of interest. No set number of seats in the entering class are reserved for candidates on the waitlist, and decisions to admit candidates from the waitlist are made on a space available basis."

I also spoke with an admissions rep today. She confirmed the above information and said to limit additional information sent to 3 documents. (I think I'm going to send in 1-2 more recommendations and a fantastic "Why Houston" essay.) I asked if there were upcoming open houses or events we could attend. She our best bet is to schedule a tour and/or class visit at our convenience.

This has been a rather surprising cycle for me. Of the lower T1's/upper T2's I applied to, I thought I had the most realistic shot at Houston. However, I wound up with a Tulane acceptance and half-tuition at Baylor. The admissions cycle gods are funny, funny creatures.

I love you, Houston... <3

Law School Admissions / Anyone hear from U. Houston?

Why do y'all think they're doling out decisions later in the game this cycle compared to previous years?
On LSN, decisions were going out as early as November last year.

UH is at the very top of my list (right next to or slightly above Tulane). I applied in late October, and word on the street is that EA applicants will get a decision by Feb. 15. Think we'll hear back by then? Anyone have a decision already?

Where are you, Houston? *echo, echo, echo*
