Current Law Students / Legal Aid Society
« on: January 17, 2009, 08:15:01 AM »
I am interested in Public Interest so the majority of the internships I applied to were public interest internships. I just got offered a position for the summer with the legal aid society in Manhattan. I only have until next week to let them know if I am interested or not. I haven't heard from any other internships but its still pretty Earlie. Should I accept the LAS position, or should I loose it,, and take my chances to see what else I can get?

Choosing the Right Law School / Public Interest- CUNY or NYLS
« on: April 14, 2008, 02:15:40 PM »
So I am interested in public interest and I am debating between New York Law School or CUNY law. Which school do you guys think will be better? also, NYLS tuition is $45,000 meaning I will most likely graduare with a $150,00+ debt. Is this a smart move for someone who is planning to go into the public interest and most likely not start with a high salary?

Financial Aid / My financial Aid Package. Is this the norm??
« on: April 07, 2008, 02:44:20 PM »
So I plan to go to New York Law School. This is the Financial Aid package I'm getting, I was wondering if this is the norm. any suggestions will be greatly aprreciated. Thanks

Tuition: $42,500
Unsubsidized loans : $12,000
Subsidized loans: $8,500
NYLS money: $5,000 ( I dont have a scholarhsip and they said this is the max they give)
Perkings loan: $3,000
Remaining Money I have to come up with: $15,000

So is this the norm for someone who does not get any scholarships?? is 15,000 of private loans to much??? what type of loans do you guys suggest???

onece again, I dont know much about the subject, therefore any help will be very useful...
