Transferring / Transfer from T-9 to T-6
« on: November 09, 2008, 04:30:24 PM »
Hi all, For mostly personal reasons I am seriously considering transfering from a T-9 school to another T-9 school. Im working hard and doing what I need but am not sure what the likelihood of being able to transfer is. Most websites like Columbia and Boalt say that one should be in the top 5% of their class...but is this on the basis that most transfer applicants are from T2 and T3 schools? Does anyone know what the chances are from one top 10 to another...such as from UVA to Boalt? Thanks!

Hey all, Any idea how a jump in the rankings like Berkeley had this year will effect this fall's class? Will the class grow larger than expected? Will they have to use the waitlist? Does it really matter for only one year? Did the rankings bust make anyone elses choice more difficult or sway anyone to choose Boalt over anywhere else?

Hi all, Im down to my final decision. I have been offered about $9,000/year at Northwestern and Full tuition plus about $7,000 per year at Illinois. I want to practice in Illinois (prolly Chicago) but love Champaign and have family near. Is Northwestern the obvious pick and would I be crazo to not go there....Thanks!!!

Choosing the Right Law School / Michigan or Washington JD/PHD $$$$
« on: March 31, 2008, 08:18:09 AM »
Hi all, I'm down to my final 2 choices. I'm choosing between Michigan Law with about 10,000/year vs. a full tuition law scholarship and $20,000/year stipend Phd At the University of Washington. Is Michigan an automatic for this ranking and job prospects?

Law School Admissions / Texas in T14 soon?
« on: December 29, 2007, 02:12:17 PM »
Hey, thinking of moving/transfering from the east coast low T-14 wanting a big public university and a new atmosphere. Although I don't particularly care about rankings beyond say 40- schools. Its interesting that I've heard Texas is making moves to get into the top 10. What are the prospects for the Future of UT Law? WOuld in-state tuition be better than say a full ride to BOulder, Alabama, UNC?

Law School Admissions / Cornell: Dog-Pile of T-14
« on: December 17, 2007, 12:19:50 PM »
I once thought I really wanted to attend Cornell...than I watched how they treated applicants and their theory of admissions and didn't even apply during last year's cycle. Each year Cornell sits in the back of the pile and admits a class full of people upset that they had to settle for Cornell. Most of their admits wait long on other school's waitlists and finally settle on Cornell. Cornell keeps their numbers low to keep their LSAT high and just hopes to stay in the top. What would happen if some of these schools would admit high numbers of students who actually want to attend their law school? What a thought. Anyways, don't be upset about the deferrals...often Cornell gets so desperate that they offer scholarships to people who were previously deferred.

Studying for the LSAT / How Pathetic Are Law School Admissions?
« on: December 05, 2007, 10:48:00 AM »
This post is in reply to baselesness and how sad and pathetic law school admissions have become. Schools (Especially the T14 where I attend) form boring and pathetic classes of students filled with people that have all day long to care about the LSAT, the LSAT, and the LSAT. Why don't Medical schools rely only upon the MCAT??? Because they realize that the profession is too important to rely solely upon a number. Why have law schools let USNews dictate their entire admissions requirements and purpose? How did the nation's most elite institutions fall into this standardized test trap?
