For a long while (since January), I thought I was set on CLS and that was the end of the story. However, having since visited UVA, I really am having some doubts.
To make matters more confusing, I know the merits of both schools, but if I throw in the $69K Virginia's offering, I'm starting to wonder if CLS is the right decision. I'm going to have to go full out in debt for CLS (around $200K at full cost of attendance for 2008) vs. approximately $110K in debt at UVA (assuming that COA stays around $60K a year there).
In terms of career options, I would like to pursue a clerkship (Court of Appeals, preferably) and then work for the federal government (DOJ or EPA or something of that sort). I know both UVA and CLS are amazing schools and that I can achieve these goals at either.
So, I guess I'm at a crisis point in my mind. I really do want to go to CLS, but UVA is really attracting me with the high quality of life and much more reasonable post-graduation debt.
For the record, I sent a letter to CLS today about UVA's offer. I recognize that CLS will not match UVA, but I do _hope_ to get at least a tiny grant or something.

I was just wondering -- seeing as how GULC sent out some Dean's Scholarship info by this point last year, has anyone gotten anything yet?

I'm more or less done with Need Access, but I have to tie up a few lose ends. In question 10m, the form asks for something along the lines of "Parental Financial Assistance for the Most Recent Year you were in college."
My question for anyone who knows is twofold:
1) What does "education financial assistance" mean? Does that mean just stuff that goes directly to tuition and room and board and the like? Does it include personal expenses if paid by your parents?
If personal expenses paid by your parents don't go in 10m, I guess they go with your "Other Untaxed Income/Benefits" stuff?
2) The "most recent year" means, for example, if you graduated at the end of the 2006-2007 academic year, then you only report what your parents paid in 2007? Or does it mean for the entire academic year?

Supposing I get a large scholarship from GW (have not yet, but I'd like to think possible), is it a rational calculus to attend GW over GULC, UVA, and/or CLS? (I'm pretty sure I'm not going to go to Duke, so I'm not including it in this question even though I've been admitted)
I've been wondering this question since late January, when I got into CLS. At what point is the school rank "good enough" and I should take the money and run?
I know lots of people would say to go to CLS, and I'm seriously tempted. But, monetarily, GW or even UVA (Dean's Scholarship there) make more sense in the short term. In the long term, perhaps CLS makes more sense, though.
It's frightening how quickly one must make these choices.

I was just wondering. Looking at LSN, it seems they started coming out around now and according to my admission e-mail they would be out in late-January and February. Anyone hear anything?

I applied for BC Early Notification, was accepted back in December, and I just received my money letter from BC today. Just wanted to let everyone know!
It's a nice gift to break up my current worries.

Having read a number of personal and diversity statements written by people on this forum, I've found that I've come to like reading them. Consequently, I'm making myself available to read -- if you'd be interested in taking advantage of this offer, just PM me your PS, DS, or addendums (officially added as of June 18 to this list of things I will read).
In general, I tend to provide specific comments that address each statement I read on a paragraph by paragraph basis. I usually do _NOT_ correct grammar or spelling (except to illustrate a larger point), as it is difficult to do so via PM and because I assume that you also have a local reader who will be better able to assist you in making these corrections.
With all that said, if you're interested in a free reader, just PM as mentioned above.

Possibly a strange question, but IIRC, Fordham promised all those admitted a binder sometime in January. Anyone happen to come across one of these yet?
I'm just wondering, since I have other connections to the school besides just a law school acceptance, so I'm curious to see it...

Just wanted to start a thread for everyone who applied to CLS RD early and is expecting a decision in the next three to four weeks!
Best of luck to everyone. Let's keep this alive until then
