Transferring / Transfer Resume
« on: June 11, 2009, 06:04:38 PM »
This has probably been covered before but I couldn't seem to find it.

Do you put your 1L school on your resume after you transfer?  If so, I would have 3 schools on my resume!  Seems like a lot.  Does anyone have a good template they could send me that would make my resume look less like a car accident?  Ideas?

Transferring / List of schools you will apply to?
« on: April 13, 2009, 05:13:08 PM »
Have you made a list of where you will apply? In an effort to avoid my reading on K's, I will post my working list (provided I can maintain or better my GPA).  giddy up:

U of Chicago (yeah, right)
GULC (probably not)
WUSTL (maybe)
Notre Dame (hopefully)
University of Wisconsin (probably as I am a Wisconsin resident)
Northwestern (yeah, right)
Kent (most likely)
Michigan (yeah, right)
Fordham (maybe?)
USC (no)

Transferring / John Marshall to Kent?
« on: April 07, 2009, 04:07:30 PM »
I am at John Marshall in Chicago and am in the top 10%.  I know I probably don't have a shot for NU or UChi, but I want to stay in Chicago.

Would it make sense to give up a scholarship and a spot on Law Review to transfer to Chicago Kent? I know Kent is ranked 66th and JMLS is the bottom of the barrel, but I've heard of people coming out of JMLS landing biglaw gigs in Chicago.  I would also like to teach someday, and I realize that staying at JMLS will pretty much sh*t on that dream.

I figure I can get in, but would it be worth it?

Thoughts?  Thanks.

Transferring / WUSTL OCI
« on: March 06, 2009, 11:15:20 AM »
I am at a T4, top 8% and feel as though I might have a reasonable shot at WUSTL EA.  I applied already and am keeping my fingers crossed.

That being said, I have heard OCI at WUSTL is lackluster, considering its reputation and rank.  Is this true?  Obviously the career prospects out of WUSTL would be heads and shoulders above the T4 I'm at right now.

Can anyone here speak to this?  If I don't get into GULC but I get in here, I will go regardless.  However, it would be nice to know if OCI isn't that great and try and establish connections on my own.  Thoughts?

Current Law Students / When do you get your class rank?
« on: January 28, 2009, 11:09:29 AM »
What is your experience as to how long it takes to get your class rank? It seems like I've been waiting forever.

In regards to internship, firm, and job applications: does it make sense to wait for rank, or should I just send the damn things out?

Transferring / GULC early admissions (from T4)
« on: January 14, 2009, 03:33:26 PM »
Hey, does anyone know the story with GULC's early admissions (transfer admission based off of a student's 1st semester grades) policy?  Has anyone gone through this process?  Is it more selective considering it is only based off of one semester of course work?  Would they tell a T4 student "fuckoff" and to wait until the 1st year grades are in?

Yes, I am a 1L at a T4 (I know, I know..."why did I ever go here?" I've heard ya'll poo on my school plenty of times so no need to reiterate).  My grades this semester were as follows: A+ (Legal Writing), A-(Torts), A-(Property), and A-(Contracts).  Also, I'm not sure exactly how nasty the curve is at my school, but for the sake of discussion assume it is average.  Considering I don't want to delve into my life story, what does your gut say about my chances for early admission at GULC?  I checked transfer apps on yahoo (so you need not suggest it, I'm not retarded despite the fact I'm at a T4) and it was hard to tell.  I understand it is impossible to know for sure, but I like to think about it.  If not GULC, any other suggestions for schools with my numbers (assuming I can replicate them next semester)?  Finally, I am from Wisconsin and I think they like to take kids from the state...Maybe there?
