1L job search / Can PT'ers apply to 1L jobs for their first summer?
« on: July 25, 2008, 02:54:01 PM »
I know that students in the PT program at my school are typically 1 yr behind for OCI SA positions for 2L - and I assume that this is everywhere. Does anyone know if the same applies to Summer 1L or will I be "ineligible" (if there is such a thing for 1L jobs) to apply for Summer 1L jobs because I am PT?

Studying and Exam Taking / Outlining Software
« on: July 09, 2008, 01:12:09 AM »
Hey there,

What software are you using (or plan to use) for outlining? I downloaded a trial version of Circus Ponies/NoteBook and it seems pretty decent. Does anyone have any experience with it? I'm also on a Macbook, if that makes a difference.

Thanks,
R

Studying for the LSAT / Fire alarm went off during LSAT

 :D

I guess this ought to be posted in "Horror Stories" but it doesn't seem like there is much activity over there.

The fire alarm went off in the building during section 4. At first, the proctor suggested that we just do our best to work through it. Work through it?? It with annoying flashing lights and a deafening alarm that is supposed to be so distracting you can't work?! Ha! By the time they stopped the section, we had about two minutes left on the clock. Sigh. Everyone evacuated and we stood outside for about 15 minutes in 30ish degree weather. The fire department showed up, and then we rambled back in for the last two minutes of section 4, section 5 and the writing sample.

It's so laughable, I'm having a hard time crying.

Non-Traditional Students / PS for Non-trads
« on: October 06, 2007, 12:08:14 PM »
Hi, I'm curious about what some of you nontrads are doing for your PS. Are you addressing why law/why the change in your career? It seems that it would be odd not to tell adcomms why you are changing careers after 10+ years in a given field (as in my case, I was an HR Manager/Director for over 10 years). So, in reading the standard advice for PS's, do you think the advice for trads applies to non-trads (ie, don't talk about why you want to go to law school)?

Thoughts?

Thanks!
