Transferring / Anyone applied for transfer to Tennessee?
« on: July 13, 2006, 06:53:54 AM »

I am anxious waiting for a response from UT. I am really hoping to be able to move closer to home. Has anyone heard anything from them? Obviously law school performance is key, but is there anything particular anyone knows about what UT looks for in a transfer? Residency, etc?

I am considering taking a full scholarship at Stetson. I am also still seriously considering St. Louis because I know I want to do Health Law and they have offered half tuition.  I know many people would say forget them both and go to the best school, which would be Univ. of Maryland for me. I am still pretty partial to the scholarship money, especially full.  I know this doesn't seem like the wise decision to some. There are other factors to consider other that the money.  I was just wondering whether anyone else was seriously considering accepting a full scholarship at a lower ranked school or was in a similar position.

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Where is my BU rejection?!?!

Oh where oh where could it be??? I have noticed on law school numbers that rejections and waitlists are increasing steadily by the day...and the numbers are high!  With my little 159 I am anxious to get the bad news.  Or maybe there is some other wonderful redeeming quality about me...hmmm.

I am fortunate to be at a small school and to know my professors well.  I am asking my best known professor for one rec and my Senior Thesis advisor for another.  Should I have a third?  And if so, I am debating between two people. One is a professor I had my Freshman year.  I have travelled with him on a trip to Cuba and will travel again with him to South Africa this year.  This would show something that would not necessarily be availible elsewhere on the application.  The other would be the Dean of Students who is the Student Government Advisor and the leader of several other campus activities with which I am involved.  I will be working with him a great deal this fall.  Which sounds better or does it matter?

I am interested in going into the field of health/healthcare law.  I will be applying this fall and have been looking at  schools with a good reputation for good health law programs.  Should I be concerned with applying to schools with best reputations for the specific type of law or should I be attempting to get into the school with the best overall reputation? St. Louis University seems to have the best reputation related to law and healthcare according to some rankings, but St. Louis is ranked lower overall than other schools to which I am planning on applying.
