Law School Admissions / For those considering law school next year
« on: October 26, 2008, 12:30:22 PM »
Its starting to look very bad indeed... the ABA is suggesting that most 3Ls have non legal back up plans.

I'm having a severe wtf did I do wrong and wtf should I do now moment.  The economy is poo, and the fact that I have a job right now should almost make me happy I'm not going to a lower ranked school, considering the dire straights many new lawyers are in on the east coast.  But I could always apply to cheap cheap schools like CUNY and basically go at night, and have 0 debt if I work during the day.

I'm so angry that I wasted the effort applying.  I mean compared to other scores here a 158 sucks, but on my LSAC report I placed 3rd or 4th in my testing center out of 50+...and I freaking spent money on courses and applying, and I hate wasting money.  I feel like I owe the money gods another go.

Or I could say F law, play a lot of video games and work out and learn the guitar, wait for the fiancee to get out of school, and go to school to teach latin to some kids who complain that it's a dead language.

Anyone else having an existential crisis?

I'm having some trouble deciding, suggestions are welcome.

Incoming 1Ls / Michelle Obama "Whitey" Tape
« on: June 02, 2008, 08:58:09 AM »
A new development... apparently a tape exists where Michelle Obama is ranting about whitey on the pulpit of the Obama family's former church.  Coming to the convention, will this mean Hill will take all the super delegates?

If you want to read about the alleged tape (emphasis on alleged) google Michelle Obama Whitey, and you'll get 2398203482390 results.

Incoming 1Ls / Dropping the SAT to increase diversity?
« on: May 30, 2008, 09:35:46 AM »

I was about to applaud Wake Forest for dropping the SAT because I thought that now they would use pure academics.

Turns out its purely to increase diversity in its student body.  Now I am a fan of socio-economic affirmative action, but how far from meritocracy can schools take us?

Yes I'm aware that the SAT is flawed, but at least it levels the playing field...

Law School Admissions / So...Suggestions on Cycle 2?
« on: May 28, 2008, 01:34:20 PM »
Well for this cycle I'm thinking

Franklin Pierce
Suffolk Nights
UConn PT
University of Montana

Who wants to place bets on rejections and waitlists this time around?

Fairly interesting.  The future of doc review and midlevel associate work?  Could the law be left to litigators?
