I just decided yesterday that I'd apply, and I wrote this thing in about 30 minutes, but just wanted to get some feedback. Would anyone who's applying to Yale care to read it?
It's actually about 20 words over the limit (though I doubt they actually count these things), so if you see a place where I can cut out a few words, feel free!
Hey, what are you guys thinking of writing about for your diversity statements? I'm not really sure what the structure should be like. Is it just like a shorter version of the PS? I think that some of my diversity stuff is already discussed briefly in my PS, and I don't want to be redundant.
Also, I'm black, and I don't want to write about anything too overused (discrimination, attending a terrible high school, etc.). I used to be a ballet dancer, which isn't that common or easy for a black person. Do you think this might make for a decent personal statement? I just don't want to sound whiny or like a victim...
Do you think it looks bad to have most of your file (PS, addenda, etc.) printed in one font, such as Times or Garamond, but to use Ariel narrow for your resume? Ariel narrow is the only respectable font that keeps my resume to one page, but I don't want to use it for the rest of my documents. bad idea?
