Department of Backstory:
Currently live and work in Florida, would very much like to get OUT of Florida. However, I am unsure as to if I would like to LIVE INDEFINITELY outside of Florida. I mainly just want to get out so I can figure that out. I have never lived anywhere other than Florida and I am pretty sick of it. But I could go to American and decide, you know I miss flip flops year round I want to be closer to my family. I just don't know yet.

Ideally I would work in DC, but if not I would likely just want to come back to Florida.

Public Interest/Government is what I am currently interested in (looking into the DOJ honors program and federal clerkships specifically). But that could change since I could take torts and decide I have found my life partner. I don't want to commit myself before I have even take my first class.

If you say one of the "If admitted" choices, what would be your next pick from the schools I have actually been admitted to.
I just feel like I am missing something obvious, and my own personal hangups keep me from seeing an obvious choice, so thank you for your opinions!

Law School Applications / Would you call?
« on: February 10, 2009, 02:37:45 PM »
My status check just changed from "in review" to "decision made and will arrive by mail".  The fact that this happened within a matter of 3 hours leads me to think I may be auto-admit or auto-denial...  Which leads me to stress out.

This school is def one of my top choices and I am going nuts already.

Question:  Would you call the school to find out the decision, or wait it out?

Law School Applications / Re-submitting LSDAS Report
« on: February 01, 2009, 05:56:21 AM »
So I had to sent in my application and LSDAS report to meet some random 'priority pool' deadline, but did not have a LoR in.(the school doesn't require them, but likes to have them anyways)

Is there a way to resend the LSDAS report?  It says that the reports are not tied to any school and are only sent when the school requests them ... so do I have to ask the school to request the report again.  Or ask my recommenders to sent in physical copies of my LoRs .. which would take time I don't really have.

Law School Applications / Random Question
« on: January 21, 2009, 06:41:06 PM »
I am STILL waiting for a LoR so I haven't sent in many applications yet.

But I was wondering if I can send in my application, fee, essays, etc, and then just send my LSDAS report as soon as my LoR comes in.

Cause the person writing my rec is being a srs pain in the ass and I want to feel like I've done SOMETHING.  My resume, PS, DS, applications are all done and I am just waiting for the LoR to send them all in ... but I can send the app without sending the report and then send the report later .... right?

Reviews, Visits, and Rankings / W & L Preview Day
« on: January 08, 2009, 02:08:36 PM »
Anyone sign up for this?

I got the E-Mail, but does the invitation mean they actually are interested in seeing me apply, or are they just blanketing everyone with a 160+ LSAT?

I am trying to decide if it is worth it, cause I would prob only go if it means they have some interest and not just sending it to give me false hope.

Where should I go next fall? / 3.1/163
« on: December 29, 2008, 11:46:52 PM »
My current list:

    * Duquesne University
    * Florida State University
    * George Mason University
    * Loyola Marymount University
    * Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey--Camden
    * Stetson University
    * Temple University (Beasley)
    * University of Florida
    * Villanova University

DEPARTMENT OF BACKSTORY:
I graduated with two Bachelors (mistake in hindsight), crappy GPA because I wanted to be a doctor my first year so I took a bunch of Biology/Chemistry classes that didn't turn out so well.  About a year and a half out of college and have been working at the local district attorney's office for about a year.

I am interested in working as either a prosecutor or something in the Public Interest field.  But I am leaving my options open because I could take torts and decide I have found my true calling.  I just don't know yet.  I can go anywhere, I do not /want/ to stay in state, but if need be I can.  I have family in Philly/Pittsburgh/D.C. so something in that area appeals to me.  Even though the out-of-state tuition for PA/VA/NJ, do not : /

Anyone have any suggestions?  My apps are being held up by slacker LoRs, so I have so time to figure out where all I want to apply to.  I've been following the cycle thus far on LSN, but figured I'd ask for some additional advice :D

Studying for the LSAT / Blackstone in Florida
« on: April 10, 2008, 08:22:37 PM »
I was wondering if anyone has anything, good or bad, about Blackstone LSAT Prep in Florida, specifically Tampa?  Powerscore just canceled their course in Tampa, and I find myself reluctant to sign up for Kaplan. Testmasters nor Blueprint have classes in Tampa.

TYFYT!

Recommendations / Grad School + Law School LORs
« on: July 29, 2007, 03:54:03 AM »
I just recently decided to hold off on Law School for a year or two and get my Masters Degree.  I am applying to Masters programs this fall and I have a question about asking for LORs.

Is it ok to ask for a rec for Law School (sent to the LSDAS) and then several for grad programs?(I mean the same rec but copies with the professor's letterhead, envelopes, etc)  I haven't narrowed down the programs I am applying to yet so I figured several sealed envelopes would be ok.

Or should I ask for just a grad school rec.

This is for one specific teacher who I adored and would give me an amazing rec that I'd like to have for Law School as well...  I just think he might retire soon so I want to have it in LSDAS...

I don't want to provide more work for the professor but I'd really like a rec for both areas...
