General Board / Grading Curves and Academic Dismissal

I am going to be entering my first year of law school next year but I am worried. When I read about some of these grading curves it scared me. For example, no less than 10% must get lower than a C. Does that mean that 10% of your classmates fail? Is it really that rigid? This might be an extreme example, but how likely is it to be academically dismissed? 10% can be hefty if classes are small.

I have been rejected from the top Ontario schools, and I am waiting on some other ones. However, I doubt that I will get in. By the way, I have no interest in going to school outside of Ontario, only applied to Dalhousie. I have also applied to American law schools and I got into some top third tier schools and some low second tier schools. More importantly I have been accepted to the JD/LLB program in Detroit Mercy/Windsor. Currently my goal is to come back home and practice in Canada. I dont know what I should do. Should I go to a better school, get a JD and if I want, go through the NCA (which I have limited knowledge about), which might take an extra year. Or should I just do the JD/LLB program? I am worried about the job prospects, due to Detriot's low rank (tier 4).

Applying to Vermont Law School has just been very good experience. They treat you well, respond promptly and with care. I am truly impressed. However, I know very little about the area, and the school. I view it as a top third tier school, with a great environmental program (something which may be useful in the future but I am not that interested in). What is their grading curve like? I am from a big city, but I dont mind living in a small town. Although some entertainment would be great, just so I dont go crazy. If anyone can provide me with a feel for the school and the surrounding area, it would be greatly appreciated.

I am competitive for third tier and low second tier, but I thought Wayne State was one of the better third tier schools, but I guess I was wrong. Just wondering why Wayne State dropped to fourth tier, do they really belong there? Are you buying that their employment rates are actually 90% and not 60%, as reported (something about non-respondents)? History shows that they did in fact have much higher rates. Any info on the school in general would be appreciated.
