Visits, Admit Days, and Open Houses / meeting with admin counselor
« on: September 29, 2007, 10:42:32 AM »
I am going to have a 1on1 appointment and campus tour with an admission counselor in a couple weeks. It's gonna be at my top school that I am gonna be a bit of a reach at. I am below the 25th percentile GPA but right at the 75th percentile LSAT (and I'm retaking tomorrow). I am also in-state (apparently the school admits 70% of class from in-state) and have a good gpa addendum coupled with a good DS. Obviously the purpose of the visit is to hopefully get my name around so that I'm more than just a bad gpa when it comes time to review applications.

My question is... What questions would be the best to ask the counselor? Is there anything that may specifically help me or legitimate questions that may potentially help the person remember me specifically?

Thanks for the help!

I just wanted my addendum read over. Any feedback is appreciated! Thanks guys!

I am writing this to explain my grades as an undergraduate. I started college straight out of high school with the heavy burden of providing solely for my own well-being. During my first three years I was unable to balance supporting myself at a young age and being a full-time student. Because of this my grade point average suffered greatly. I entered the United States Army but was medically discharged soon after. The lessons learned, however, forced me to develop a new-found determination and commitment to my studies. Because of this my performance has been radically different during the last two and a half years and is demonstrated by my GPA of 3.5 during that time period. I hope you will you consider this in your decision. Thank you for your time.

Law School Admissions / percentage of in state students at public schools

Does anyone know what percentage of the incoming class schools typically reserve for in state students? For example, UVA's web site says they usually reserve about 40%. I am specifically interested in the University of Tennessee.

I have sent 2 pms and neither show in the outbox. Is that normal?

I am newbie on LSD and set to apply in the upcoming cycle but would like some input on my PS & DS. If anyone would like to read them I would be very thankful.
