General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / ITT: You Tell Me If I'm Crazy For Doing This
« on: May 15, 2007, 12:14:08 AM »
So I've decided that I want to live out my childhood fantasy of being Indiana Jones for the summer. I've done a little bit of homework and decided that, instead of taking a month-long road trip as I'd planned a few months ago, I'd rather do something that pushes me to my physical limits. I've decided on this, which I read about in the NY Times a little while back, here. Initially, my parents were in favor of my decision, though my mom seemed a little skeptical about me running around in the woods for a month. Just today my mom called and asked me to reconsider, citing the recent death of a participant in this same course last year--the first in 40 years of operation. I'm a little nervous but I feel like the risk is a major part of why I'm doing this in the first place. Is this crazy to be considering?? My friends are split about 50-50. I'll probably go for it in the end, but I'd like to see what people have to say.
