Law School Applications / Deferred at Minnesota

Anyone else? I was EA and had a letter from Minnesota sent to my home. Apparently there was something in there about applying for financial aid?!?

WTF?!?!? Why would I be interested in applying for financial aid if you just deferred my application? Anybody else get this as well?

Law School Applications / China

I'm currently living and teaching in China. Wondering if anyone else is currently doing this or knows of someone who did this before? If you know someone who did something like this before law school; do you know what effect, if any, this had on their admissions cycle? I can't imagine that it would hurt, only help. But how much?

Where should I go next fall? / Vandy?

Looking for some advice/outside opinions...

I'm thinking about applying to Vanderbilt but not sure if it would be worth it for me; here's my situation:

1. I already have a spot at Wisconsin (deferral from last year's cycle) which is my in-state school.
2. Reapplied at Minnesota (was accepted last year, but didn't get a deferral) and would expect another acceptance this year. I also get in-state tuition there because of reciprocity agreement.
3. Applied at a few t14s; but I'm definitely not counting on getting accepted at any of them

I do have a cool soft factor, as I currently live and teach in China, and speak decent Chinese.

Would it even be worth applying to Vanderbilt (where I'm far from an auto-admit)? And if I were accepted would it even be worth the extra thousands of dollars of debt?

Any feedback would be great. Thanks.

Reviews, Visits, and Rankings / Wisconsin ASW... who's going?

Just wondering who is planning on attending the UW-Madison ASW this upcoming weekend. I'm an undergrad at UW right now so if anyone has any questions, concerns, etc., I'd be more than happy to help. I'm still deciding between UW and Minnesota, and I'm excited to get a chance to meet some potential classmates this weekend. Everyone who is coming should be excited about coming to Madison, it's an awesome town... even though it's going to be snowing tonight and tomorrow...  :'(

Where should I go next fall? / Minnesota vs. DePaul-Kent-Loyola

Am I crazy?

I've been accepted at the University of Minnesota and as a Wisconsin resident I qualify for reduced tuition (reciprocity agreement between the states). I've also been accepted at DePaul, Kent, and Loyola with scholarships of 18,000 ; 20,000 ; and 16,000 respectively. With the scholarships it seems to be pretty much a wash financially (esp. at Kent). I want to end up practicing in Chicago (close to my family, girlfriend, always wanted to live there, etc.) and I know for sure that I don't want to do BIGLAW.

So am I crazy for considering going to a T2 school in Chicago (leaning towards Kent) vs. Minnesota? I'm also accepted at IU-Bloomington (with small scholarship) and waiting on Iowa and Illinois (although I think my chances at UIUC are slim cuz I'm out of state). Any advice? I'm really having a tough time with the decision and its starting to get to the point where I need to make some choices. Any help would be great, thanks in advance.
