L.L.M. Board / BU or Northwestern Tax LLM to practice in DC?
« on: April 26, 2010, 12:23:07 PM »
What Tax LLM would better help me achieve my goal to practice tax law in the DC/VA area?

Boston University or Northwestern?

If one ends up with a full time job in BigLaw, does it make sense to take an LLM in Tax (part-time) ??

Transferring / top 10% at T3 is what % at a T20 (GW) ? - (OCI)
« on: July 18, 2008, 10:25:30 AM »
I have been told that during the OCIs, employers apply some sort of "discount" to your rank and I was wondering what a top 10% at a T3 could be considered by the firms recruiting at a T20 (GW)...

thanks!  ;D

Transferring / Transfers that will go to GW (almost for sure)
« on: July 17, 2008, 08:09:43 AM »
So, who are those that (almost for sure) will go to GW this Fall?

I am one of those (the likelihood I'llgo to another school is very small)

Transferring / chances at duke, cornell, northwestern???
« on: July 16, 2008, 08:10:22 AM »
I come from a T3 and got in at a T20.
my gpa is 3.45 and I am top 12% from a well respected East Coast Tier
3 law school and I graded on to law review.

The deadline to accept the offer of admission is very soon and I still have to receive a decision from DUKE, CORNELL and NORTHWESTERN.

Since I also have to start thinking about housing etc., I'd like to know how likely it is to get in one of these schools...

I know that I am not the typical applicant but if I had a decent chance, I would wait before I make my final decision.

Thanks

Transferring / GW or Fordham for BigLaw? - Transfer -
« on: July 07, 2008, 02:00:21 PM »
Where should I transfer to?
I'd like to work in the corporate field for big law firms and either DC or NY is fine... I just want to keep as many doors open as possible...

thanks

Transferring / WUSTL or NYLS?
« on: June 26, 2008, 06:10:08 PM »
I am in the top 13% at NYLS and graded on to Law Review.

I was accepted at WUSTL (EA).

What should I do? Go to WUSTL or stay at NYLS? (I'd like to do corporate law, so I need biglaw... if that is still possible...)

Thank you!

Transferring / OCI after transfer
« on: June 21, 2008, 01:39:27 PM »
If some big law firms interview at the new school only people in the
top 15% and one transfer student was in the top 15% at their old
school, does it mean that they can be interviewed along with the top
15% students at the new school?

Thanks
