Choosing the Right Law School / Suffolk Law
« on: March 11, 2013, 12:45:42 PM »
I saw the employment prospect is low for Suffolk but at the same time i see that US News Ranks its individual programs in Dispute Resolution, Legal Writing, and Clinical Training among the top. Why is the employment prospect bad for Suffolk if the US News ranks the programs nationally pretty high? Also, how legit is

Im just confsued as to why so many people are attending unranked schools? Is it because they are known regionally? If so, wouldnt the job prospect employment score be higher?

Obviously this is my first time applying, so I dont know what you can and cannot do.. so please dont mind this dumb question..

If you are admitted to two schools and one is offering money, is it deemed unfavorable by admissions committee and financial office to ask your first-choice school for money if you have an offer of half the tuition from another school?

Choosing the Right Law School / Question for current/former students
« on: March 05, 2013, 09:51:37 AM »
This question is for current students and law school grads.

Did you enter thinking you want to focus on a specific practice area but after starting/graduating, leaned towards a different area of law to practice? If so, could you please explain? Thanks.

I am a paralegal who has been out of school for 3 years. Applied to law school and got in a few. Here are the choices.

Biglaw, likely not. Im ok without it. I dont mind moving, but I would prefer to come back and work in the Texas region. Interests--at least for now--are in International Law, Intellectual Property, and/or Immigration. Which one do you suggest, and why?
