Law School Applications / Leaving work for law school?
« on: January 22, 2007, 11:05:58 AM »
A Monday morning poll for you all: I graduated last year and decided to take a year off. In that time I got a salaried job in a field as far from my poly sci major as one can get. When hired in they told me to promise them at least a year or two. (When starting law school I will have given them around 14 months)

So now after reading LSD at work, applying at work, and checking email constantly at work I was wondering to all you employed people out there, how much notice are you giving your current job, and why, or people who are unemployed and shiftless drifters, how much would you give?

Recommendations / Venting about bad LOR
« on: January 12, 2007, 09:30:33 AM »
The first LOR that finally got processed would have to be the one my old boss of two years wrote. While I expected something amazing and so well written that adcoms would be soiling themselves to admit me she decided to use phrases such as "he was never late for work, and very dedicated.." Instead of the Supervisor position I held she wrote "Team Leader" with "supervisory functions" (The supervisor function that is specifically noted on all of my resumes (of which she had a copy.))

I know this is my fault for asking the police chief to write the letter for me instead of my immediate boss, but still I expected far better things from her instead of just her secretary jotting off something.

Anyone else run into this.

Im banking on my two professor LORs to make up for this one...

Personal Statement / Perfunctory Professional PS Proofreaders?
« on: December 28, 2006, 11:36:00 AM »
I was holding off on my PS and just finished it the other day, however I hate it and am looking for some readers to completely mangle it and make it pretty...

Any takers?
